Just wanted to make sure everyone knew what this was and was planning on doing something to help out.
It would be great if we could get a sticky on this at least until the 4th.

If you don't know what the Ron Paul Overnight is, it is an effort to get Dr. Paul's name out there in a way that can't be ignored. After Dark on the 3rd place signs on public property, or private property where you have permission. The idea is that Americans will wake up on independence day to Ron Paul!
The Guidelines:
The first rule of the RPO is keep it simple. The second rule is keep it simple. The third rule is don't make it complicated.
Banners should be short and sweet. We are looking for name recognition and media coverage, not to make a point:
Ron Paul
Ron Paul President 2008
Ron Paul for President
Who is Ron Paul?
Google Ron Paul
To Reflect well on the campaign, we should exercise our first amendment rights with respect and dignity.
No Insulting Signs
Don't mention anyone but Ron Paul
After a few days, Remove anything you put up. Don't let it become an eyesore.
Individuals:
-Print out flyers and handouts available from the campaign or respectable online sources. Hand these out at events on the fourth, display small signs in high traffic areas
-Talk to friends, neighbors, and business owners about putting a Ron Paul sign in their window during the Independence Day festivities.
Groups:
-Overpasses! Hang signs where traffic can see them.
-In groups of two or so distribute Campaign Material at parades and festivities. See the excellent guide on techniques for distribution (http://ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=4280).
Reply in this thread if you are planning on being involved. Record your sign making and displaying. It should make for some good You Tube.
Stay Informed, Stay Motivated, Stay Excited!

I will be doing this! Should be great! I think I might go with some signs that have a simple questioin like "Like liberty?" or something and then have www.ronpaul2008.com and then some Who is Ron Paul?'s and such.
Here are some good videos showing how to make these signs very cheaply.

Every credit card slot on gas stations near me will have a Ron Paul business card in them. All bathroom stalls in my area will have a flyer.

Did you print these out yourself or order them online or what?

Our group in RI is putting up 20-40 signs on overpasses, we will also be distributing handouts at parades.
If you are participating please post what youre doing. Id like to get a pulse of the national commitment to this. I know the meetup forums and AFTF forums are all on board.

What is the legality of putting banners on overpasses if you are not standing there?
Thanks,

they do it all the time around here
Support Our troops
Welcome Home Joe, etc
It is public property so as far as Im concerned the first amendment covers it. We will be putting labels on the back letting people know that we will be taking them down within a few days.

I don't know if our meetup is going to get it's act together, but I made about ten 2X7 Ron Paul Revolution banners about a month ago. I'll be putting these on the freeway overpasses in the area here

How about collecting photos of all these signs... we can take them tomorrow, and then send them in with an official press release to all the news agencies across the country.
i have a mega media email list here:

Well....I'm back home. I personally made over 30 Ron Paul rEVOLution signs today, and met with the Austin meetup for BBQ and sign making. I took 11 signs with me and put them up in conspicuous places all around NW Austin (and suburbs) with my boys. Especially around the mall, and the fireworks display areas!
One neighborhood had stuck several hundred (!) little American flags every 30 ft or so in the grass median the divides the main throughfare. They were crying out for a Ron Paul yard sign! So after canvassing the city with homemade signs, I went back with two of my $5 yard signs and put one at each end. If they're still up after midnight 7/4 I'm going to go pick them back up....
:-)
I'm sending media announcements to the newspapers in Austin regarding this activity, and seeing if we can get some media coverage. The media should understand, if they won't report on "Freedom's best kept secret," then we internet spammers will spread the word ourselves!

Hm, we didn't get out as many as we wanted to around here in Birmingham, but we covered most of the major intersections, so it should still provide good coverage, especially if they last a few days.

It's a little after 5 am, and I just got in from putting up more than a hundred signs around my little town. In a town with a population of 2,006 (and not a stoplight in sight), that ought to cover it. :D

We got to Aquatic Park at 3:30. Nobody was around and other flyers were oddly absent.
We put a flyer on a trash can, and the sleeping bum next it woke up, and started reading it!
The Aquarium was in Defense Condition Delta, but we got in a few anyway using our Ron Paul Ninja skills.
Embarcadero Center was the bonus level. Lots of large posts near BART and the streets near the water.

My overnight went great, but I had a few setbacks. I put up a Revolution Banner on I-94 Eastbound right past the last Benton Harbor Exit by the water tower. Great visibility from the road. It was still up as of 4PM. It's difficult to get to as well, so hopefully that will deter others from taking it down.
I also put up a banner on the large stairway from the bluff to silver beach in St. Joseph. To my shock it stayed up all night, several thousand people walked up those stairs and saw the banners. I also gave out over 100 RP CDs and 300 Flyers. I posted about 40 8.5 X 11 Signs on Cardstock, but half were taken down or blown down. I also put up 10 large cardboard signs, only one was taken down. I have some video and pics I took, it may be a while before I can get them online tho.

Some really impressive efforts here, guys.
Truly inspirational...
It's pouring the rain here right now, so most of my signs will be a soggy mess come morning. I hope they made some impact today. :(

I don't know who did it, but way to go!
Story: I had dinner tonight in northern Virginia with a Republican friend with a political job at an agency Dr. Paul wants to get rid of (not that that limits it that much). At least half of all of our conversations now are Ron Paul-related (he's not opposed, but more sympathetic to other guys and mostly to beating the Ds--he's a party guy). He tells me that when he went in to work this morning July 5th, there was a Ron Paul poster on the column of the building where he works!
