View Full Version : What Should Our Airplane Banner Say?

I'm calling the Airplane advertising company in a little bit, I can't decide on the message because they are all pretty good.

Most people won't even understand what "liberty" really means.

They can't fit that on the banner, so we tried to make it short with the website.

Sorry, I just wanted a decision quickly so I could make the reservation, she said they were almost sold out of space for the 4th. :)

I'd rather have something like:
You should know: ronpaul2008.com

I know if I saw a banner claiming to offer me hope or liberty I would just laugh at it. Certainly wouldn't remember the site it was pointing me to.

Besides, people who feel strongly about liberty (strong enough to remember a website from a banner) already either support Paul or know who he is. It's the jello group we need to go after. The ones who are still trying to find a candidate or cause to get behind. And there's no telling which Ron Paul issue will appeal most to people in that group.

I like "Hope for America" the best. If we're not going to do that, I would think something like "Vote for Freedom", or "Vote for Liberty", would be better than "Got Liberty?"

I'm not sure about in Florida, where this thing is planned to fly, but in Middle America, I would think something indicating Dr. Paul would resolve the illegal alien invasion, would go over very big. People are majorly ticked off right now. Maybe something like... "Secure the Borders" www.RonPaul2008.com

"RON PAUL For Liberty" You have to emphasize his name first or the meaning is lost.

Ron Paul rEVOLution
RonPaul2008.com

I'm a big fan of the rEVOLution campaign. Its strength seem to lie in the fact that it means something different to every Ron Paul supporter. Plus it's easy to recognize and very memorable.

True. The website should be first, then the message.

www.RONPAUL2008.com Hope For America

it's going to be in all caps.

WWW.RONPAUL2008.COM HOPE FOR AMERICA

the rEVOLution sign might not go over well at a few thousand feet in the air.

I'm inclined to suggest something simple, like "Google Ron Paul".

Stay simple, because getting name recognition is first.

Will you have people on the ground handing out flyers/bumper stickers/etc?

:)

I think you need to do the simple "Who is Ron Paul? www.RonPaul2008.com"

Scribbler de Stebbing
06-28-2007, 09:08 AM
Google Ron Paul

If not rEVOLution, then yes, "Google Ron Paul." Depending on how big the banner is, add the website.

My only suggestion would be to not waste space with the www for the website. It takes up space on the banner and is not needed, instead just put ronpaul2008.com

Thanks for the poll, whatever you go with make sure you take some photos!

Actually, I think :

"Who is Ron Paul?"

Just by itself with nothing else is kinda good. It's sort of mysterious and intriguing. It gets the name out there, and generates interest. Somebody sees that flying across the sky and they're going to think to themselves,"WTF??" It's memorable.

I like the hope for America one. I think using the website is the best thing to do because a lot of people will go to fairly soon. If they have to search it out or ut effort into finding him then less will follow through.

I wish I had done this poll earlier so we could have included a lot more suggestions, I should have asked this question earlier in the week, but I was just focused on finding a advertiser and getting the funds together.

I went with the first poll answer, but put the website address first.

WWW.RONPAUL2008.COM HOPE FOR AMERICA

(she said she would add a double space between the address and the message).

Thanks for all the great suggestions, next time I'll have to make sure we give some more time into figuring what should be on the banner because there were so many good ideas.

It sure would be easier to read if HOPE FOR AMERICA, was Hope for America. Otherwise, the whole line just blurs together. That, or www.RonPaul2008.com HOPE FOR AMERICA

Putting on my marketing hat, how about focusing on the issue 70% of Americans agree with him on, the war in Iraq:
"Ron Paul = Peace, ronpaul2008.com"

The 'love' message is in line with future President Paul's 'keeping it positive' (not antagonizing) approach. As an aside, my dad did something similar during Nixon's 1973 inauguration. He had a bi-plane tow a "Legalize Gold" banner as part of a rallying cry for the gold legalization movement (In 1971, he organized the National Committee to Legalize Gold (NCLG) and launched Gold Newsletter to lobby for gold legalization). I mention this because the banner seemed to have a great visibility impact (gold ownership for U.S. citizens became legal again January 1, 1975). Anyway, just my 2 cents.
