Not surprising given the DEA's open secret of being a huge importer of cartel drugs. Thanks DoJ for being on top of this! It only happened 5 years ago.

Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration reportedly had “sex parties” with prostitutes hired by drug cartels in Colombia, according to a new inspector general report released by the Justice Department on Thursday.

In addition, Colombian police officers allegedly provided “protection for the DEA agents’ weapons and property during the parties,” the report states. Ten DEA agents later admitted attending the parties, and some of the agents received suspensions of two to 10 days.

This signals a serious need for a major restructuring of federal entities. Something our current federal government will not attend to, obviously, if things have gotten this far out of hand to date.

Americans that think this is wrong and contributing to problems for the states, examine the threads on Article V.

Component offense tables do not always contain language
adequate to address the solicitation of prostitutes in jurisdictions
where the conduct is legal or tolerated.
We found that the ATF, DEA,
and USMS offense tables do not contain specific language to address the
solicitation of prostitutes abroad, even where the conduct is legal or
tolerated. Although the FBI offense table contains such a category, we
found instances where general offense categories were applied instead of
the specific category. Employees in ATF, DEA, and USMS may not
receive adequate notice that this conduct is prohibited or of the range of
penalties that could be imposed for it.

Not sure where this fits, the dates here span from October 2013 to March 2014...

U.S. Soldiers and Contractors raped 54 children in Colombia; sold the films they made as Pornography (http://www.democracynow.org/2015/3/27/headlines/report_us_soldiers_contractors_sexually_abused_54_ children_in_colombia)

A new report commissioned by the Colombian government and FARC rebels has concluded U.S. soldiers and military contractors sexually abused at least 54 children in Colombia between 2003 and 2007. In 2006 there were 23 reported cases of sexual abuse committed by active American soldiers and another 14 in 2007. The investigator cites one case where 53 girls in the town of Melgar were targeted by contractors who filmed the abuse and sold the films as pornography. In another case, a 12-year-old girl was allegedly drugged and raped by a U.S. Army sergeant and a contractor. Under immunity agreements, none of the alleged abusers were ever punished. The media group FAIR notes the story has received no coverage in the U.S. corporate media. A number of U.S. outlets have reported on a new Justice Department probe which concludes U.S. drug enforcement agents in Colombia participated in "sex parties" with prostitutes hired by Colombian drug cartels.

A summary of the internal report shows the DEA doled out punishments to 10 of its agents, which ranged from a letter of caution to a two-week suspension. None of the agents who participated in the parties was fired.

Oh, and some of these, many parties, for many years, were also paid for by American taxpayers.

“The president, as you know, maintains a very high standard for anybody who serves in his administration, particularly when it comes to law enforcement officials,” Earnest said Tuesday. “And the IG report raised serious concerns about that conduct.”

Leonhart testified before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee last Wednesday, telling lawmakers that the “activity” described in the inspector general’s report “has not and will not be tolerated.”

House cuts DEA funding after 'sex parties' revelations

In March, a Department of Justice report revealed that agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) had "sex parties" with prostitutes and members of the drug cartels they were supposed to be investigating in Colombia.

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee promised investigation and retribution, soon finding that the parties occurred by the dozen over the course of several years — all on the taxpayers' dime, of course.

On Tuesday night, the House authorized financial penalties for the profligate agency, cutting $43 million from DEA employee salaries. Of that total, $20 million in cuts will only be withheld until the DEA implements policy changes to address its employee misconduct issues. The other $23 million will be diverted to funding investigations and supporting the victims of sexual abuse, as well as purchasing police body cameras.

if I ever get caught doing something illegal I'll say I didn't receive adequate notice that there would be an issue with any such behavior, and that the appropriate punishment is a letter of caution

So ...

First, some people in The Government do some things that people in The Government punish as crimes when people who are not in The Government do them.

Then, some other people in The Government react to this by rewarding yet other people in The Government with more money that was involuntarily taken from people who are not in The Government.

And they do this in the name of punishing as criminals more of the people who are not in The Government who do the same things that the people who are in The Government did without having been punished as criminals ...

Someone remind me - why do those of us who are not in The Government need The Government, again?

Not Only Were the DEA Agents who Threw ‘Drug & Sex Parties’ NOT Fired, They Got Bonuses

During its investigation into misconduct and sexual harassment on the part of Drug Enforcement Administration agents, the Justice Department found that eight out 14 agents had wrongly received merit bonuses or time off ranging from $1,500 to nearly $32,000.
Such rewards are in violation of the DEA’s own policy.

“None of the 14 DEA employees involved in … misconduct incidents … received promotions, but in ten instances, eight of the 14 employees received bonuses or awards contrary to DEA policy,” said the DoJ Office of the Inspector General audit of DEA rewards and awards. The report was released on Thursday.

DEA policy prohibits employees from receiving promotions, awards, or other favorable personnel actions for a period of three years after being subject to discipline for misconduct, or while an investigation is pending, according to the report.

The amount of the bonuses ranged from $1,500 to nearly $32,000. The DEA regional director, who handled the misconduct internally rather than reporting it to the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR), received a $31,938.80 bonus in May 2013.
