Sup all, been supporting Ron Paul and Rand Paul since 2012 :). Currently a college student in Singapore. Was a minarchist before but now am currently a voluntaryist. There's no one in my place who holds the same views as mine so I decided post here. Don't worry, I am not an NSA agent :P

+rep for even being able to find the New Member Introductions buried in the Archive. I think that needs to be improved somehow.

Welcome to the forums.

Can you help me respond to this person I am arguing with about the drug war? They like your model where drug dealers are executed, I think it is abhorrent.

Actually I am arguing for the Singapore model. Capital punishment for all drug dealers.

Singapore is a Islamist/Bhuddist nation. Check with them for the particulars about their drug policies - the most successful country in Asia, if not the world. Much to like and emulate in the Singapore model, and it can even be called a "socialist" state. Whatever it takes to get public safety. Results matter more than labels.

I guess my best argument so far is that there are plenty of other countries who use capital punishment against drug dealers who are much worse off than Singapore - so what is responsible for the success of Singapore economically and with regards to public safety?

Singapore has one of the freest markets in the world! Cherish it and don't let the leftists fuck it all up like we've done in the US. It takes a very short time for a state to shackle the market, so please encourage your fellow patriots to stay vigilant (even if they aren't libertarians like you).

Thanks!! Yes, it is extremely important, as Singapore has no natural resources to speak of. It's only "product" so to speak is only a free economy. Unfortunately, there is a growing leftist movement here, though... and they are gaining record seats in the parliament.

What does he mean by better off? In any case, drugs are still around over here, and they are very slowly easing the laws. For example, drug traffickers can now avoid the mandatory death penalty if they are found to be working as a "courier" for someone else instead. Also anecdotally schools here who find drugs sold (generally by western immigrants' kids) generally solve the issue by themselves instead of involving the police. My guess is that they want to improve their really bad reputation among Westerners. I think it is abhorrent too. Unfortunately, drugs have a bad reputation in this region by the older generations due to the Opium Wars and this mindset is passed down to the younger folk.

Economic liberalization made Singapore to what it is. Don't listen to this retard about socialism, lol. Only him calls it a socialist state. As for public safety, it is pretty much because people are generally wealthy over here so there is no reason to resort to crime. Also, the country is really small and densely populated so practically speaking, it is very hard to do criminal stuff here.

That website is quite accurate, btw. Some people in Singapore yearn for a more rural and easy-going culture like in other countries like Malaysia
