Obama wants to control the local police.

Obama’s Department of Justice announced last week the six cities that will serve as national pilot sites of a $4.7 million National Initiative for Building Community Trust and Justice. The six cities are Ft. Worth, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, Stockton, Birmingham and Gary, Indiana.

Attorney General Eric Holder described the initiative as a partnership between federal officials and criminal justice experts providing training, policy and research to address distrust between citizens and law enforcement.

Birmingham officials expressed delight in the takeover. “We are truly honored that DOJ would select Birmingham as one of six national pilot sites,” said Birmingham police Chief A.C. Roper.

Roper feels Birmingham needs help from the federal government to gain trust from its citizens, “Although we’ve worked extremely hard building bridges in our communities we saw this initiative as an opportunity to strengthen relationships, increase public cooperation, and improve the perception of police legitimacy across our city.”

“We truly recognize that the Birmingham Police Department cannot be successful without community support and community trust. This three year project will allow us to serve as a national police model and increase our capacity to serve our citizens,” said Roper.

It's called going from State public relations to Federal public relations (propaganda).

Better keep an eye on the News, Schools and other Community Information.... they just got some "budget help."

What would holder and his group of goons know about policing?

So basically the feds will occupy these cities like Iraq and they will never leave. That should really help foster more trust between the already dispised feds and the local population. I can't forsee any problems.

Actually it is a list of suggested behaviors for police departments. Not laws telling them what to do or taking them over.

Kind of like the UNs list over Yellowstone National Park and other places around the US, huh?

For government agencies there are suggestions. For everyone else....regulations. Amazing how that works.

$4.7 million in suggestions.

Several weeks ago I did hear Sharpton telling protestors that the Justice Dept needed Congress to give them more money for this sort of thing.

Do you not grasp that these "suggestions" will ultimately be transferred into written standard departmental operating procedures and upheld by the courts as local law enforcement regulations justifying all future police actions? And this will all be on par with accepting federal grant monies--and local politicians will just fall in absolute love with this all because it will enable them to hire new LE personnel and establish new police task-forces.

The solution to "racist" local government is MORE government.

Fellow mundanes, our private neighborhood watches need to network and correspond, our numbers and gear must exceed those of the stasi (think real hard on tactics of asymmetrical neighborhood security) if WE are to be secure in our Homes and Possessions.

Well, every now and then one finds the truth. Sir, or Miss, I hope you are for real.
