Senator Huffines Files "Liberty from Traffic Enforcement Cameras" Bill
Senate Bill 1340 will prohibit all forms of photo enforcement cameras, including red light cameras
Austin- Texas State Senator Don Huffines (R-Dallas) and thirteen of his colleagues have joined in filing legislation that will ban red light cameras in the state of Texas, as well as other forms of photo-only traffic enforcement. Senate Bill 1340 (http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/tlodocs/84R/billtext/pdf/SB01340I.pdf) will outlaw all forms of photo enforcement by camera, providing liberty to the people of Texas. Studies have shown that these type of enforcement measures have led to an increase in car wrecks, and these measures have never been voted in favor of by the public in Texas.

Texas State Senators Paul Bettencourt (R-Houston), Brian Birdwell (R-Granbury), Konni Burton (R-Colleyville), Donna Campbell (R-New Braunsfels), Brandon Creighton (R-Conroe), Craig Estes (R-Wichita Falls), Bob Hall (R-Edgewood), Lois Kolkhorst (R-Brenham), Eddie Lucio, Jr. (D-Brownsville) Jane Nelson (R-Flower Mound), Charles Perry (R-Lubbock), Larry Taylor (R-Friendswood), and Carlos Uresti (D-San Antonio) have all joined on as joint-authors in support of restoring liberty to the drivers of Texas.

"This bill will restore individual liberty to Texans," said Senator Huffines. "I am proud to stand with these Texas Senators. They understand that red light cameras and all forms of traffic enforcement by camera are unwanted, unsafe, and must be outlawed in Texas. This is a bipartisan issue to help protect the freedoms that are bestowed to us. To defend the liberty and safety of the people of Texas, we must act now to remove red light cameras, and other forms of traffic enforcement by camera. Texans are tired of being found guilty by a machine. It's time to put a stop to these cameras."
