First the Bibi speech for attacking Iran actually draws significant dissent, then 40-something congressmen boycott it, then the treason petition against 47 senators who signed a letter circumventing US foreign policy gets 100K sigs in a week, and now the media is actually reporting on it! Is the grip of Zion on the politics of the US actually slipping? What's AIPAC saying these days?

150,000 sign treason petition on US Republican letter to Iran

Washington (AFP) - More than 155,000 people by Wednesday had signed a petition to the White House urging charges be filed against 47 Republican senators who they say committed "treasonous" offenses by writing Iran's leaders about ongoing nuclear negotiations.

Lawmakers caused a political furor with their controversial letter Monday that warned an international nuclear deal with Iran could be scrapped by the next US president, particularly if Congress does not give its seal of approval.

If Obama makes a deal that can, indeed, be overturned when President Cruz or Bush III is inaugurated, isn't only fair to make that known to the Iranians? I don't see how anyone is seeing this as an attempt at sabotaging in the long run.

ABC News: Iran Letter: 165,000+ Sign Petition to Prosecute GOP Senators for Treason (http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/iran-letter-165000-sign-petition-prosecute-gop-senators/story?id=29564985)

"A petition on whitehouse.gov (https://petitions.whitehouse.gov//petition/file-charges-against-47-us-senators-violation-logan-act-attempting-undermine-nuclear-agreement/NKQnpJS9) calling for charges to be filed against the 47 senators who sent an open letter to the leaders of Iran (http://abcnews.go.com/topics/news/iran.htm), possibly in violation of the Logan Act, has collected more than 165,000 signatures in less than two days.
Because the petition exceeded 100,000 signatures within 30 days, the White House (http://abcnews.go.com/topics/news/us/white-house.htm) is required to respond."

...

"When asked about the potential violation of the Logan Act, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest highlighted the authority of the Department of Justice (http://abcnews.go.com/topics/news/us/justice-department.htm).

“For a determination like that, I'd refer you to the Department of Justice. It ultimately would be their responsibility to make that kind of determination,” Earnest said today in the White House briefing room. “I know that there's been a lot of speculation about this, but I'm not aware of any conversations about the Logan Act in its relation to this specific matter that have taken place here at the White House.”

And while Earnest redirected the inquiry about the potential Logan Act violation for now, the White House will have to make an official response to the petition."

The Iranians know as well as anyone that any treaty can be overturned in the future. The effect of this letter is to urge them not to negotiate in good faith with the executive branch, charged with the conduct of foreign policy, which makes them effin traitors. Division stops at the water's edge. That is the cardinal rule they broke.

The word "traitor" doesn't mean that.

This will help the GOP. 150,000 mostly Democrats signed the petition. So Obama is gong to repeat his position on Iran. We already know his position on Iran and on the GOP posturing.

Unless you got some sort of petition on the RNC or NRSC website that attacked them it won't be the difference.

Obama is going to use a petition of a relative few people to atttack Republicans and say he has a mandate.

These WH petitions should be about issues that aren't in the open like GMO, Arms trafficking by the ATF, TPP Trade and other issues.

Where is the media attacking Obama and the GOP on TPP?

What's the point of signing a petition when Obama is already 99% in line with those who signed.

This is about the media bashing stupid southern Republicans trying to go toe to toe with the 57-state genius Obama.

No different to attacking Republicans for votes on: Eric Holder contempt, ATF gun running, Repealing Obamacare, shutting down the government, defunding DHS,etc.

This isn't about the Israel lobby for the media. This is about bashing Cruz and Cotton's antics.

Is Tom Cotton's academic record better than Obama's?

lol Netanyahu did what the peaceniks could never do, split the Israel lobby into pieces without being called anti-semites, their only defense. Now they are a political football like everyone else and sooner or later they are going to get dropped, hurray!
