Gunfire damaged a National Security Agency building in Maryland, the U.S. Park Police said.

There were reports of shots fired near the agency's Fort Meade headquarters in the Washington D.C. suburbs Tuesday, and Park Police spokeswoman Sgt. Lelani Woods said it does not appear they came from the nearby Baltimore-Washington Parkway.

A section of the commuter roadway was closed Tuesday night for investigation.

The FBI took over the case Tuesday night, but the NSA confirmed no one was injured in the apparent shooting.

Maryland Transportation Authority Police were investigating shots fired on the Inter-County Connector about 12 miles from the NSA earlier Tuesday. Police say one vehicle was hit, and one person was injured by broken glass.

Police would not say whether the shootings were related or whether the NSA was targeted.

Possible the NSA was not a target but hit by a stray fired from a car shooting at another car on the highway?

The incident unfolded along the Baltimore-Washington Parkway and Route 32 in Fort Meade, Maryland. The NSA is located nearby.

The NSA said no one was injured. Park Police have shut down northbound BW Parkway at Rt. 32 for the police investigation. The FBI is now involved, too.

Information is still sketchy.

But the shooting may be a tied to a single gunman and related to five incidents in Anne Arundel, Prince George’s and Howard counties, The Baltimore Sun reported.

Maryland Transportation Authority Police were investigating shots fired on the Inter-County Connector about 12 miles from the NSA earlier Tuesday. A dump truck was struck and one person was injured by broken glass, which appeared to come from a nearby wooded area.

"They're looking into whether these are linked together," MTA Police Lt. Kevin Ayd told the Sun.

A building at the National Security Agency's Fort Meade headquarters in Maryland was struck by gunshots Tuesday.
Shots were also fired at a Walmart and AMC Theater in neighboring communities on Monday.

A Lincoln Town Car was spotted near some the crime scene, according to The Sun.

Also find out if any dogs in the area were barking at cops or if any homeless people were annoying cops nearby.

That could explain a lot of stray bullets.

Shooting buildings doesn't make sense.....

If in fact a bullet or two actually hit a building I'm betting it missed its actual target...
