"It may be accurate. They aren't fighting illegally and they aren't fighting for oil. I don't care what the statistics are."

His entire point is so that we don't have to fight them "over here."

As a veteran of the war in Iraq, I can honestly say this pisses me the (*&(* off. Who is he to speak for anyone, soldier or not? The fact of the matter is, political opinions are as diverse in the military as they are in the civilian world. There's probably slightly more support for the war in the military, but I would say that the majority of soldiers are now against the war, just as the majority of civilians are. This bears itself out in the donations to Dr. Paul. McCain can suck my *&^.

Stop telling us what you think other people think, McCain, and tell us what you believe, and why. Then we'll judge you. Anything else coming out of your mouth is pure mother(*&#ing fluff.

They are fighting because they are oredered to and have honor, not because they believe in empire building which is exactly what this is, and of course preferred exploration rights to Hunt Oil and the Bush cronies. Preferred rebuilding rights in exchange for protection from the false government of Iraq.

Just like McCain's WELL SCHEMED Iraqi "troop visits" on the taxpayers dime... did you notice that he's trying to gain votes, especially the younger votes away from RP, by having this vid on MTV?

McCain didn't mention his PR videos walking around in Iraq, he had a cleared Perimeter of almost 100 hired gun mercenaries, along with the military, giving him a condition GREEN for a few minutes. Plus, don't forget the body armor McCain has to wear. Oh yeah, things are wonderful and I think he spent like 15 minutes with grunts and the rest with the "BRASS"

Our TAX DOLLARS at work, used by another presidential candidate for their own gains... DISGUSTING!

Hmm...I'm a soldier too and I was activated for Enduring Freedom. I support Dr. Paul and McCain didn't speak to me.

I don't know what the Hell McCain is talking about. Most of my unit thinks they were just there to escort KBR truck with Toilet paper to different FOBS. They weren't too happy about that.

Lets do a test.........

Here's a search for donations by individuals who's employers start with the letters "US"........

For McCain, how many of these are military?

http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/search.asp?txtCID=N00006424&name=%28all%29&employ=us&state=%28all%29&zip=%28any+zip%29&submit=OK&amt=a&sort=A

How about for Paul?

http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/search.asp?txtCID=N00005906&name=%28all%29&employ=us&state=%28all%29&zip=%28any+zip%29&submit=OK&amt=a&sort=A

So what are the our servicemen saying here?

(Captain Shays) I agree with you but might5 want to ad another point to their support, for those who do support being there. My take is that many of them are more loyal to their buddies which are like brothers than they are to the politicians or the policies.
Its common sense. Jusk ask anyone, military of civilian if they would risk their lives to fee their friends the Kuwaitis or risk seeing a 100 million dead Americans to defend Tiawan?

For those who say that we're not fighting for oil in the Middle East, just ask them a simple question. What are the reasons other than oil why the USA has been a constant presents in that part of the world since 1916? Wait til you hear the silly deflections and excuses for answers.

EVERYTHING we do in the M.E. is informed by our dependence on their oil. Its not as much about stealing it as setting up strongmen regimes to do the bidding for us. Historically it didn't matter whether they were a ruthless monarchy, a cruel dictatorship or a fundamentalist theocracy. We'll support them as long as they make the word safe for the procurement of oil and we'll knock them down if they don't

John McCain is simply a mad man who is way out of touch. I remember him speaking on the House floor debating whether to invade Yougosolovia while he was making the best case he could for sending 150,000 troops over there to do it.

And if anyone wants to read a great article that outlines McCain's hypocrisy google "Profiteering From Democracy" by Charles Lewis.
It seems that as McCain was trying to peddle his McCain'-Feingold campaign finance deform he was the largest recipiant of campaign cash from the three largest media conglomerates of any other candidate. Something along the lines of $675,000 if memory serves me well.
