Smiegel - The person whose pursuit of the ring of power has completely changed him into something that barely resembles what he previously was, and who will say or do anything to get his hands on that power....hmmm I wonder who that could be?

The ring=The State
Frodo=us
Sam=liberty movement leaders
Aragorn=Ron Paul - the reluctant, modest leader.
Legolas=I want to say Rand due to his arrow flinging style, but maybe there's a better choice like Napolitano.
Gimli=people like Kokesh and the Anarcho activists that prefer a more blunt tactical approach.
Gollum=hypocrisy and the cognitive dissonance many seem to have when it comes to the size and scope of government. Untrustworthy.
Sauron=The banksters and other string pullers.
Saramon=shady politicians.
Gandalf = the wiser old timers in the liberty movement. Those who have fought for many years but not given up hope.
Elrond and the elves=the unseen hand of voluntary cooperation as a guiding force that brings balance.
The orcs=the MIC and its cheerleaders
The treants = the apathetic
Merry and Pippen = time will tell. Whoever can rally the apathetic and take down Saramon.
Bilbo=the past.
Boromir = the left. Those that think the ring can be used as a force for good.

This is the best I could with a 102 fever. Thanks for bumping the thread to take my mind off of the misery.

Sauron: The ethereal, and inherent, desire of power to desire more power.
Mouth of Sauron: Media apparatus.
Southron Men: Security apparatus (army/police)
Boromir: Rand Paul (sorry, but let's hope he doesn't wind up mortally wounded and comes back around anyways)
Aragorn: Ron Paul
Gandalf: The ethereal, and inherent, desire of liberty to resist.
Frodo: You, me, them.
Sam: The friend we never have.
Meriadoc B:
Peregrin T:
Random Fox that witnesses Bilbo set out: Boobus
Bombadil: The world that I built, my agency in it.
Gimli:
Legolas:
Sauruman: Human tendency to value safety above freedom. Or bankstas.
Galadriel: Deborah K. (You thought I was gonna say Ayn Rand?)
Elrond/Rivendell: RPF
Goldberry: Deep-eyes.
Arwen: Make Aragorn Ron and we'll call her Carol.
Sam/Ted Sandyman: Jesse Benton (If what I hear is true, and the evidence seems compelling IE works for Mitch McF*******************)
...to be completed. No it wont. Unless I can delve into the Silmarillion and Children of Hurin. Tolkien rocks my socks, since Fellowship hit screens.
