If Congress continues letting the President assume powers not granted in the constitution, we soon won't need a Congress at all.

Mr. Obama is so anti-war that he's now requesting nearly unlimited authority for war, but only for himself, he doesn't think this bill should be indefinatly extended - 3 years with no questions asked is all he wants. Unless of course he's elected for a 3rd time.

Power escalation is natural to the State.

The right has been screaming about executive orders. Bush 2.0's # wont get beat by Obama. But Obama has done more egregious stuff in my opinion.

The White House request also would not restrict the fight to certain geographic locations, but would limit the U.S. to fighting IS militants or any future group that they become, the official said.

So endless worldwide war, basically.

And in case twomp responds to my comment again, perhaps I was wrong about my support for the air strikes against ISIS, as they don't seem to be working at all. But from the beginning I said they should be limited to Iraq and Syria. I certainly was never in favor of any kind of worldwide war against ISIS. I would certainly vote against this authorization if I were a member of Congress.

"We are grateful to the Washington Post, the New York Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost forty years."

Yup, I blindly trust the New Yalk Times and just obey.

Now we know why they gave him the Nobel Peace Price in the BEGINNING of his presidency, because they knew it would end like this.

It'll be more power for Jeb or Hillary which is why we need a reasonable person in the white house.

It has been apparent from the beginning that these people can never have enough war powers .

Yep. Obama is literally asking for the power to wage war on the entire planet, unrestricted. If he can find "ISIS" on Russian and/or Chinese soil, the authorization he is asking for will allow him to start a war in those countries (or any other), with no further authorization needed.

In other words, the US is declaring itself military hegemon of Earth. I'd wager the rest of the population of this orbiting rock of ours might feel a bit put off by this.

Power escalation is natural to the State.

That is almost literally its only function.

I just saw a headline that said republicans opposed the new powers. I thought to myself, "If it was a republican president they would have loved it." Then I read the article and they were opposed to it because it wasn't strong enough!!!

Yeah, they're insane. They just want to give unlimited power to a President of the opposing party. Giving that much power to any President is bad enough, but for the Republican Party to support just giving unlimited power to the President of the opposing party shows that they're not interested in limited government in any way whatsoever.

OP, the key is that Obama and Bush work for the same people, and I don't mean American citizens.
