After listening to Bill Bennett (must be a droooling Guiliani supporter) and Pat Buchanan, why does Buchanan NOT support Ron Paul? Sounds just like him.

what is amazing is that Buchanan DID back Ron Paul when he was asked who he was rooting for prior to the first debate.

Unfortunately now I think that Pat has a policy on not endorsing candidates directly until the party chooses, since his income is partly derived from doing political analysis and editorial comment. No one is going to listen to him if it appears he has already made up his mind.

Pat has a new book coming out in January. He wants to make sure the neocons invite him back on their talk shows so he can peddle his book. Neocons don't like Ron Paul. Therefore, Pat has two choices:

1. Promote Ron Paul
2. Promote new book

Guess which choice Pat is making?

This is issue has been covered repeatedly.

It's clear that Pat does support Ron. The only presidential candidate with his own category on Pat's blog is Ron, who gets his own "Ron Paul News" category. His magazine, The American Conservative (http://amconmag.com), has covered Ron extensively and even put him on the cover of an issue in which Giuliani was taken to task for his idiotic attack on Ron during the debate.

Pat was viciously slandered during his own run for the presidency, and he is still saddled with the false accusations that he is a racist, a xenophobe, an isolationist, and an anti-semite. Perhaps he understands that an outright endorsement of Ron would revive those old allegations and see them attached to Ron even more than they are now.

Also, through his books and media appearances he can legitimize Ron's ideas, and there's no guarantee that those appearances would continue to come if he endorsed Ron outright or brought up his name in every interview.

All that AND his contracts as a media pundit expressly FORBID him making official endorsements. Same thing goes for Napolitano.

You can't use the "P" word (Paul) on TV.

I saw this segment, it should have been called the O'Bennett Factor.

They are TERRIFIED of Ron Paul.

Pat's sister Bay Buchanan is running Tancredo's campaign, and pat has cited this as a reason for not endorsing Ron Paul.

I believe the main reason is to avoid RP being smeared, as discussed above.

Everything is perfect as it is.
