Michael Goodwin graced the NYPost with a slobbering piece (http://nypost.com/2014/12/30/nypd-and-the-military-our-angels-in-a-time-of-danger-and-cynicism/?utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_source=NYPTwitter&utm_medium=SocialFlow) on the NYPD and military. Check out the imagery attached to the article:

There is some truth to that image. We are living in Lincoln's Empire. The military conquers foreign lands, while the (now militarized) police occupy the homeland for the ruling oligarchy. The halos and angel wings are terribly misplaced.
Goodwin's NYPost piece is laced with terms like "collective faith"...."better angels"....and "public servants." It ends with this:
The military and the NYPD are made up of ordinary people doing extraordinary things, day after day, quietly, without seeking the limelight or acclaim. They do what they do because it is right. That is absolute majesty. May 2015 bring us more of it. Lew Rockwell has a much better take (http://www.lewrockwell.com/lrc-blog/all-hail-the-nypd/) on the NYPD:
The whole NYPD should be fired, of course, and private organizations allowed to offer protective services at a market price. Security guards for whom you’re a customer, not soldiers for whom you’re the enemy. Tom DiLorenzo has the take (http://amzn.com/B002ZFGJNU) on Lincoln.
