He was taken to University Medical Center in Las Vegas and is expected to make a full recovery.

that seems sun shining optimistic to me, not that I wish it on anyone but...

brain injury occurs in 15–48% of people with maxillofacial trauma

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Facial_trauma

and Reid is 75 years old

Although there were significant improvements in scores from pre-operatively to one year, with all patients being discharged from outpatient follow-up, there was a substantial level of subjective symptomatology. Most notable was the level of anxiety and depression, which were present in 30% of the sample at both time points. Health-care professionals tend to underestimate the long-term effects of maxillofacial trauma.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11924351

Reid had a stroke in 2005, a black eye in 2011, car crash in 2012, and was hospitalized in Dec 2013 for "exhaustion".

possible long-term neuropathological consequences associated with repetitive head impacts and multiple concussions
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK185336/

Similar to a broken arm or leg, the parts of the bone must be lined up and held in position long enough to permit them time to heal. Treatment often requires hospitalization and may require a healing process of six or more weeks depending on the patient’s age

I suspect he will either a) not seek reelection or b) lose because of his inability to keep up with the election process. Multiple head injuries is not a good prognosis.

If this is true, Vegas legalized gambling casino money interests may need to recruit and invest in a new politician again to provide leadership in US Senate.

It does. But I still think online speculation about his wife hitting him are jokes.

According to the New York Times, Reid was using a rubber exercise band that snapped and hit him, causing him to fall.
“Senator Reid will return to Washington this weekend and be in the office Tuesday as the Senate prepares to reconvene. His doctors expect a full recovery,” Reid’s office said.

If he was doing band curls and the band broke, causing him to punch himself in the face, it would be amusing and well-deserved. :D

Im thinking he was drunk and/or on pills and fell down while messed up. Pure speculation but that's my hunch. Ron Paul said that most of Congress is very fond of booze.

It takes upwards of 400lbs of blunt force to break a rib (noting that we know more than one rib was broken, e.g., "ribs" is plural), so being that one known point of impact inlcuded his face (while that injury apparently did not require surgery), this story is very likely bullocks.

Agreed. "Liberals" like to sell themselves as peace-loving and caring people, yet their entire philosophy is completely predicated on violence and coercion.

Good observation, thanks for making it.

Yes, I HATE Harry Reid, just like I HATE George W. Bush and John McCain and Barack Obama. I tend to have that reaction to mass murderers, thieves, and thugs. And while I don't wish them any ill will, I don't feel any sympathy when it befalls them.

The Congress and Executive Branch are exempt from Obamacare. Only the middle class and poor have to fork out $6,000. out of pocket each year.
