View Full Version : John McCain Purges Arizona Tea Party Foes

Apparently he was not a fan of the censure. And folks like him, Graham, and so on- even if they know they're disliked, they have the money and resources to silence their critics.

As the longtime Republican senator lays the groundwork for a likely 2016 reelection bid, his political team is engaging in an aggressive and systematic campaign to reshape the state GOP apparatus by ridding it of conservative firebrands and replacing them with steadfast allies.

Under the byzantine rules of Arizona Republican Party politics, these elected officials, known as precinct committeemen, vote for local party chairmen. The chairmen, in turn, determine how state and local GOP funds are spent, which candidates are promoted in an election year, and which political issues are highlighted — all matters of central concern for McCain heading into 2016, when the threat of a primary looms.

Prior to Aug. 26, when the races for the party offices were held, the vast majority of the 3,925 precinct slots were filled by people McCain’s team considered opponents. Now, after an influx of candidates were recruited by the senator’s allies, around 40 percent of those offices — 1,531 to be exact — will be held by people McCain’s team regards as friendly. They will have the power to vote down hostile Republican chairmen in each of their respective localities.

In the days after the state party’s rebuke, a group of top McCain political hands, including Jon Seaton and Christian Ferry — who worked for McCain in his 2008 campaign and have remained with him since — hatched a plan to form a super PAC that would spend money to elect a more friendly slate of precinct committeemen.

You need to talk to more people because coming up to this year, that's all we heard about Lindsey Graham too. (I.E. "everyone I talk to in South Carolina hates Lindsey Graham") And look who got voted back into the senate. Lindsey Graham. You give people too much credit.

McCain polls worse than Cochran, Murkowski, Pat Roberts and Lamar Alexander. None of them got 50% of actual Republican voters. I haven't looked yet but I guess McCain is polling like Dick Lugar or Utah's Bennett.

I think Rand has been way too respectful of McCain in his trips to Arizona and way to respectful of of McCain's intentions on the immigration bill. McCain had no interest in anything except screwing the voters.

Nail in political coffin: McCain’s expected Kirk Adams endorsement

Conservative Matt Salmon is winning endorsements that matter (http://salmonforcongress.com/)

http://seeingredaz.wordpress.com/2012/08/20/whats-a-kyl-or-mccain-endorsement-actually-worth/

Kyl and McCain have even stooped to endorse squish Kirk Adams (http://seeingredaz.wordpress.com/2012/05/07/kirk-adams-lone-republican-to-catch-sperlings-cah/) who is challenging eminently more qualified former Congressman Matt Salmon (http://salmonforcongress.com/) in CD 5. Desperate Adams even recruited 1950s crooner Pat Boone to vouch for Adams commitment to senior citizens.

Kyl and McCain have both endorsed silver-spoon punk Ben Quayle (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/44/2010/08/ben-quayle-denies-writing-for.html) who has only a nodding acquaintance with truth. Congressman David Schweikert (http://www.davidschweikert.com/), is the man with actual credentials and the brains to make a difference in Congressional District 6.

McCain also endorsed against Congressman Salmon and Congressman Schwekert

So 60% still hate McCain? Graham is more popular than McCain, Ayotte or Jeff Flake.

McCain is a lunatic who shouts at Syrian Christians and belittles his own constituents. Graham I assume is polite in private conversations

Even after he goes into these tiny primaries and gets a bunch of RINOs to vote out the chair.

Some of these Arizona Chairman are liabilities anyway in beating McCain. The last thing we need is some of outlandish statements they make. This primary has to be about terrible McCain vs Nobody Challenger.

LaFaro likened McCain’s actions to “ethnic cleansing.”

Jan Brewer expanded Medicaid and endorsed McCain. I don't know if Nikki Haley expanded Medicaid or if members of Graham's re election committee were pro Obamacare.

The pro amnesty, pro cap and trade Republican Mayor Smith from Mesa Arizona got 22% in a 6 way AZ Gubernatorial primary. Every other candidate was to the right of McCain on immigration.

Immigration is a bigger issue in Arizona than South Carolina. South Carolina has supported candidates like Huckabee, Gingrich, Graham, Gowdy, Mulvaney and Sanford. They are getting no heat compared to Arizona reps Gosar, Salmon, Trent Franks and others who would not dare hold a town hall with a bunch of illegals.

Graham is better on gun control than McCain. Graham is more popular than Jeff Flake and McCain in their home states.

Romney, Dave Brat and Cuccinelli won over moderate Republican primary voters with their views on immigration. Even in Florida Romney won. Immigration can fluctuate and be a bigger issue in more moderate states.

Mulvaney ran for RSC head and he lost about 20 votes in the runoff because he called Steve King and Louie Gohmert nativists. He gained no extra votes in the runoff. All the Gohmert supporters went with the RINO they could trust.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p61OVLrfbyQ

Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-SC) and talk show host Laura Ingraham battled over immigration reform on Ingraham’s Thursday’s broadcast.

http://www.breitbart.com/video/2014/06/12/ingraham-mulvaney-duel-on-immigration/

Mulvaney has town halls with illegals and he also tried to do an amnesty bill with Paul Ryan.

A Boomer Establishment-Teaocon alliance (and their proxy votes) runs Coconino county. Most Paulians left for various affronts and shenanigans, but I left when I had anxiety and HBP before a meeting. It was awful but I got myself together and went. The executives had been busy rewriting bylaws for the last year and we were voting on those. They passed a new bylaw which gave the exec. committee the power purge any committeemen without trial or quorum vote. We stood up and told our fellow PCs not to give up their power, that the execs. were acting like Obama, that you might be the one to be purged someday, but it passed anyway. I heard about some sort of loyalty pledge coming up, but I quit after that meeting. I saw where they were going.

Maybe now that we're out, they'll engage in some activism and actually get some Republicans elected.

Oust the Tea Party; cant have fools that desire Liberty over Despotism voting on things that are "important" in a manner that works.

This IS Voter Fraud.

Once it comes down to this guy vs that guy, or vote for this bill or that bill, the choice has been filtered down to the choice between two differently labeled forms of the same thing and why Democracy is an Illusion. It is at the Grassroots Levels, the early stages, where Voter Fraud occurs.

Team McCain’s goal? Unseat conservative activists who hold obscure, but influential, local party offices.

And they will succeed if people don't wake up and fight, and vocally, for those positions.

Wolves flock? It must just be part of the disguise.

So is it a Pack of Sheep then when they are all Wolves wearing Costumes?

(Costumes = Badges or Labels like Senator, etc)

Not suprisingly, they are still easy to spot. All they do is collect and Bleat Off all damn day.

I'm gonna go with black box voting fraud.

I refuse to admit/acknowledge that Arizona as a group is effed up enough to repeatedly put this guy in office.

I refuse to admit/acknowledge that Arizona as a group is effed up enough to repeatedly put this guy in office.

This is a two way battle, for the votes of the little people, and against the sway of the big interests. It's the big special interests (including the MSM, who paint McCain as the Rock of Gilbraltor) who keep succeeding in putting the guy back in office, not the little guys the elite keep bamboozling with emotional spin rhetoric and slick, heavy rotation campaign ads.
