I don't think I have seen this posted here yet. Sounds kind of like Bundy Ranch, another case where law enforcement had to back down.

Over 1,000 Just Gathered for the Largest Felony Civil Disobedience Rally in US History

By Matt Agorist on December 18, 2014

“This isn’t just a protest. We are here to openly violate the law.” “We pledge our blood. We will not comply.”

Olympia, WA — Over the weekend the largest felony civil disobedience rally ever held in American history took place. It is estimated that anywhere from 1,000 to 3,000 well armed gun owners showed up to the state capital in Olympia to openly violate the unconstitutional gun law, i594.

The event’s organizer, who frequently appears on the Free Thought Project, Gavin Seim, made the extraordinary nature of the rally very clear,

“This isn’t just a protest. We are here to openly violate the law.”

On his website Seim explains the ominous nature of the legislation:

On Nov 4th 2014 a piece of legislation called i594 passed in Washington State (read text). It will make so much as handing a gun to a friend a felony. While this started here in Washington, it was funded by big out of State money and you are next.

Seim goes on to emphasize the importance of this day of resistance:

This stand is about all of America. It’s about public officials deciding if they will keep their oath, or support tyranny. It’s about us deciding if we will stand or allow liberty to be lost.

On Dec 13th we gather for the largest Felony civil disobedience rally in American history. Thousands are coming to stand at the capital in Olympia. This is not simply a protest. We will openly exchange, buy and sell and trade guns and start a plan to break apart this legislation and violate i594 in every possible way. Because ALL law that violates the Constitution is not law, it is VOID!

We the people will not tolerate this law. We will not bow down and lick the boots of tyrants, we will stand for the liberty of our children? We’re not waiting for politicians, judges or lawyers. Our birthright is NOT to be touched. We gather and we will affirm that liberty.

Original RSVP’s grew to over 6,000, so police decided that it would be in their best interests not to enforce the law. The Washington State Patrol announced there would be no arrests for exchanging guns – not even for selling guns.

Like the professional liberty flexing guru that he is, Seim refused to even obtain a permit to hold the rally, citing the right of people to peaceably assemble.

So. Protest/Break the law unarmed and get beaten. Break the law/protest with arms and be left alone. Hmm.

"When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."

The above quote has often been attributed to Thomas Jefferson. Historians and biographers of Jefferson state that the third president never actually said or wrote those words and that the quote is most likely from a 1914 speech against socialism written by a man named John Basil Barnhill.

Know what? I don't care who said it. The fact is, it's just too damn true to ignore. Nothing makes a pack of worthless, thieving bureaucratic rat bastards run for cover faster than a group of armed citizens who are standing up for their right to be free.

This compels me to write a thread on a big question I have about states' rights vs. federal law.

Shit like this needs to happen 1000 times a day across the country.

We can make the fuckers back down, they are paper tigers, but it's damn sure gonna take more than SWLODs and "peaceful protests".

And this is what Adam Kokesh attempted to do in D.C. If he had had the numbers, and if the movement had been more organic so there wasn't one "leader" to target, it would have worked.

But we need to give up the automatic weapons and all guns for that matter in order to decrease crime and prevent another Sandy Hook! What about the safety of our Children!!

Should have had 1000 armed guys in Atlanta clamouring for an idictment of the Habersham police. Or 1000 armed dudes in Cleveland for Tamir Rice.
Actually, that could still happen.

Unfortunately, I think many of those in that gun-toting crowd in Olympia are the type of people who would proudly wear "Breathe Easy, Don't Break the Law" t-shirts.

You'll never see these guys at an armed rally for the guy shot in the Walmart while leaning on a BB gun, or anything like that. Still, it's good that they will rally for at least one good cause.

Nope, the guy who organized it is a solid Ron Paul type. Gavin Seim, the Liberty Speaker.

Okay, it's good that the rally had a good leader, but I think my comment still stands. On all the gun forums I look at online the vast majority of posters seem to be very much pro-police state, except when it comes to any restrictions on their guns. You won't see many of them coming to the defense of Tamir Rice, etc. And they'll cheer on a YouTube video of an old lady getting tased, but will be up in arms if you try to tell them how many rounds a magazine can hold.

I wonder how this SPLC trained lapdog feels about this going on in the very same state?

You are certainly right about a lot of people. Its a shame, but its nice if we lead and they follow. A lot of gun rights groups are lead by our people.

Who said the people rallying with guns had to be white?

http://www.greanvillepost.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/black-panthers-seattle-1969-armed-on-capitol-steps-600x350.jpg

Really I think what happened it Tamir Rice and John Crawford (the black guy at Walmart) is in part a result of blacks who don't have criminal records abdicating their right to keep and openly bear arms. If someone sees a white person walking down the street with a gun he/she thinks "criminal." A white person does the same thing and people think "gun nut." If there had been 20 black men in Walmart open carrying that day, 911 probably wouldn't have been called. And if it had been called the police likely would have had a different response. And imagine what the right wing "We only care about our rights" types would do if black people in masse started showing up to NRA meetings with membership money in hand and a legal side arm on hip. The NRA wouldn't be able to turn them away. And if black people started caring about white people's rights being violated, maybe more white people would care about black people's rights being violated.
