William DuVall, vocalist for Alice in Chains, was detained by police while returning to his home in West Hollywood, California.

According to DuVall, while pulling into his garage, police told him he did not live at his home. Little is known about the situation at hand, but DuVall did tweet that he believed it was race related.

Detained pulling into own garage in W. Hollywood. Told "You don't live here." License SHOWS MY ADDRESS. Still held 30 mins. #AliveWhileBlack

It'll be interesting to see what develops from this. So far, nothing else on this story.

DuVall has always done a good job on the old songs:

Something is seriously wrong with this thread. None of the usual protagonists have been in here to blame the victim and praise the cop, and all of them have been here well past the time that this thread was posted.

Apparently the event actually took place five years ago but he just tweeted on it again this week. http://ultimateclassicrock.com/william-duvall-racially-profiled/

William DuVall, the singer who replaced the late Layne Staley in Alice in Chains, has revealed how he was once racially profiled by California police. The incident, he says, took place five years ago at his own home.

UPDATE: When we first published this story, it was our incorrect understanding that this incident took place yesterday – Dec. 4, 2014. We have since corrected the story to reflect the fact that it happened five years ago.
According to a tweet that DuVall, who is black, posted, the police stopped the singer as he was pulling into his West Hollywood garage.

Interesting. It doesn't seem to have been talked about 5 years ago. It's good that he's speaking out on the issue, even if he waited to do it. Hopefully more public figures will continue to do so.

William is very politically minded. He may be kinda liberal, but he's not a left wing mouthpiece. He calls it how he sees it. I'm not expecting him to have the good ol' libertarian epiphany, but he's not a bad guy.

And he's the lead singer of my ALL-TIME FAVORITE BAND, ALICE IN CHAINS! \m/
