America’s police departments have a dirty little secret. However, this sick and twisted pattern of abuse is becoming quite the large pile of dirt to keep sweeping under the rug.

Sexual misconduct is the second highest of all complaints nationwide against police officers, representing 9.3 percent in 2010, according to a study (http://www.policemisconduct.net/2010-npmsrp-police-misconduct-statistical-report/) by the Cato Institute’s National Police Misconduct Reporting Project.

In 2010, 354 of the 618 complaints involved nonconsensual sexual acts, and over half of those involved where minors
Last month we reported (http://thefreethoughtproject.com/cop-accused-sexually-harassing-rape-victim/) on an officer in charge of a rape case who is accused of stalking and sexually harassing the victim.

In September, Oklahoma made headlines (http://thefreethoughtproject.com/raped-cop-police-chief-advice-break-law/#qFLqqRGfOKAyzdZE.99) with two other serial rapists, besides Holtzclaw, in 3 weeks, all officers, as well as one police chief molesting children.

Also, last month an ‘Officer of the Month’ brutally raped a young woman on the hood of his car, at gunpoint. (http://thefreethoughtproject.com/cop-giving-girl-ride-pulled-gun-raped-gunpoint-hood-car/)

In July (http://thefreethoughtproject.com/cop-planned-kidnap-rape-eat-women-walks-free-judge-overturns-conviction/#fmIlWVPSuMITlvIj.99), a former New York Police Department officer convicted of planning to kidnap and rape women before killing and eating them was set to go free after a federal judge overturned his conviction.

Or how about the police officer that was found guilty of raping a girl with a pencil; she was 5! (http://thefreethoughtproject.com/ex-cop-guilty-raping-5-year-old-pencil/)

There is also the problematic issue of spousal abuse. Law Enforcement officers beat their significant other at nearly double the national average. Several studies, according to Diane Wetendorf (http://www.abuseofpower.info/index.htm), author of Police Domestic Violence: Handbook for Victims (http://www.abuseofpower.info/Book_Index.htm), indicate that women suffer domestic abuse in at least 40 percent of police officer families. For American women overall, the figure is 25 percent, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

There are literally so many cases of sexual and physical abuse allegations that we cannot possibly cover them all. However, an unofficial report put out by the website, The OP-NAT EYE, (http://opnateye.com/?p=1228) highlights 40 cops who have been convicted or charged with spousal abuse, child rape, or other types of sex crimes just in the past thirty days.

As The Op-NAT EYE points out, NFL players Adrian Peterson and Ray Rice have been crucified ad nauseum by state-run media, allegedly because domestic violence and child abuse are big issues that need to be addressed in this country. Its now clear said media outlets only wish to improve ratings by tearing down professional athletes, and not address any real issues.

Below is the list, compiled by The Op-NAT EYE of these 40 cops.

Maybe we can solve this by giving them more funding and 1033 gear.

Egg Zachly.

They need more sexual harassment training as well.

Another 25 million should do the trick.

Plus vote harder for better leaders, etc.

Attention singles: Do not date police officers, for your safety.

Sound radical? Sound extreme?

Perhaps.

But it will mean a dramatic drop in domestic violence and sexual abuse.

And you, the well meaning friend/brother/sister/parent/grandparent won't have the guilt of introducing your brother/sister/friend/cousin/grandchild to a man/woman with a higher statistical likelihood of causing her/him harm than the average single.

I wonder how many of these go unreported?

"Tell you what, sweetheart...you show me some oral pleasure here in the back of the cruiser, and I'll throw this bag of coke away. If not, well, I'm taking you to prison."

Of course the vast majority go unreported. Shame and fear of reprisal can never be overestimated.

With all these cops abuse stories we hear about...I always think about the far more numerous accounts that never get to see the light of day. America increasingly is a country full of silent victims.

America increasingly is a country full of silent victims.

And willing ones too -- some sort of nation-wide Stockholm Syndrome. People who will line up to wave signs saying "thank you police!" after being held prisoner in their own homes.

Couple that with the number of women who have experienced sexual assault or rape or domestic violence AND with the number of women whose mistreatment at the hands of police mirrors the mistreatment experienced by a boyfriend or husband.

Imagine what it would be like if your wife/sister/friend/cousin knew that the man she trusted to find and arrest her rapist was "role playing" the very scenario that led to the assault---up to the completion of a second assault.

I'm willing to bet that a good percentage of "unsolved" rapes and murders are, in fact, covered up by our neighborhood government employees; the perpetrator either being someone in power and/or an officer.
