FITHIAN — Oakwood school officials beefed up security at the high school on Tuesday in response to online threats that were made to a student who posted a series of racist remarks on Twitter.

The student tweeted "I don't feel sorry for black people. If you hate us so much GO BACH TO AFRICA. We should have never bought you," from her phone at 10:16 p.m. Monday.
She also wrote, "I mean this wouldn't happen if black people wouldn't act like hooligans. We don't start a riot when white ppl die."
The remarks were made in response to rioting in Ferguson, Mo., following the announcement that a grand jury decided not to indict the white police officer who fatally shot 18-year-old Michael Brown, who was black.
The student's account has since been locked.
By early Tuesday, the student's "go back to Africa" remark had been retweeted 3,705 times and prompted a wave of angry responses.

"PLEASE REPORT (student) ON TWITTER," wrote @hakyeonslipbalm.

"I normally shy away from situations like this. You know me, I'm the quiet one but this is disgusting. ... Last time I checked my ancestors were not brought here freely. Ms (student) I think you forgot about this called slavery. It's uneducated and ignorant people like this that makes the world a horrible place," wrote @recklessmisfit."

"DAMN let's get her," wrote @pplofcolor.

Another person posted the student's name, her school and the school's phone number on Tumblr and urged people to call the school. Other messages indicated people were trying to find her workplace and home.

What’s more, Naia’s skull and facial characteristics are different from those of modern Native Americans and has characteristics more in common with people from Africa and Australia. But after a rigorous genetic analysis of the enamel on her teeth and the minerals found in her bones, the scientists discovered that although she was found in Mexico, Naia shares certain genetic characteristics with the earliest hunter-gatherers thought to have crossed the Bering land bridge from northeastern Asia into the Americas 18,000 to 26,000 years ago.

“Thus Naia, one of the earliest occupants of the Americas yet encountered, suggests that the paleo-Americans [the earliest Americans] do not represent an early migration from a part of the world different than that of Native Americans,” archaeologist James Chatters, the lead author of the study, said in a release. “Rather, paleo-Americans and Native Americans descended from the same Beringian source.”

KZN man loses 10-year battle over racist e-mail

Durban - A former KwaZulu-Natal engineer who got fired over a racist e-mail has lost a decade-long legal battle, it was reported on Thursday.
The former industrial engineer was fired in 2004 after printing and sending around an e-mail depicting black people as relatives of monkeys, reported the Times (http://www.timeslive.co.za/thetimes/2014/11/27/man-fails-to-get-job-back-after-racist-joke).
Vishnu Chetty was found guilty of circulating a "racially offensive e-mail using company resources".
Chetty went to the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration, over what he deemed was his unfair dismissal but the CCMA ruled against him.
He denied sending the e-mail but also argued that it wasn’t offensive.
In April, a technology company terminated the contract of a woman who made racist remarks on Facebook.
