Hagel Announces Billions More for Nuke Program

Defense Secretary Hagel has announced (http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2014/11/14/364042684/hagel-to-announce-billions-in-upgrades-to-nuclear-deterrent) that the Pentagon “is aiming to invest about 10 percent more over the next five years to upgrade the nation’s nuclear deterrent, following reviews that uncovered ‘systemic problems’ in the system.” This will cost U.S. taxpayers “billions” over the next five years, one official said, “but not $20 or $30 billion.” And this is “in addition to tens of billions of dollars that the Obama administration has already designated to upgrade nuclear laboratories and extend the lives of aging warheads.” The thought of eliminating some of these immoral, offensive, indiscriminate (http://www.lewrockwell.com/2014/08/laurence-m-vance/nuclear-christians/) weapons never crossed Hagel’s mind, nor the mind of anyone on the Joint Chiefs, nor the mind of anyone on the board of a merchant of death, nor the mind of any Republican warmonger (or do I repeat myself?). Eliminating these weapons of mass destruction would mean a major change in U.S. foreign policy. Don’t look for the Republicans to change anything. More war is what we can look for from them, as Ron Paul (http://www.infowars.com/ron-paul-on-gop-victory-get-ready-for-expanded-neocon-wars-in-syria-and-iraq/) said.

Our "Keystone Kop" Government

Regarding the poor state (http://www.nytimes.com/2014/11/14/us/politics/pentagon-studies-reveal-major-nuclear-problems.html?_r=0) of the U.S. nuclear weapons infrastructure, the “crews that maintain the nation’s 450 intercontinental ballistic missiles had only a single wrench that could attach the nuclear warheads.” The tool was sent from one base to another via Fed Ex. “No one had checked in years ‘to see if new tools were being made.’” The government didn’t even trust its own postal system to send the tool.

To clarify: "nuclear deterrent" = NUCLEAR OFFENSIVE WEAPON

...what could go wrong with having MORE bigger, better, smaller, lighter, faster and
deadlier hammers in a world full of nails, when peace is the ultimate objective?

It's MADness, at the push of a button.
