Last night, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid filed cloture on the USA Freedom Act. The legislation is sponsored by Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT), and while it does slightly curtail the NSA's ability to spy on law Americans, it also extends the Patriot Act until 2017. Currently, the Patriot Act is scheduled to expire in June 2015.

Campaign for Liberty, along with Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), are opposed to the USA Freedom Act because of this extension of the Patriot Act. A senior Paul aide told CNN last night that, "Due to significant problems with the bill, at this point [Paul] will oppose the Leahy bill."

Campaign for Liberty is strongly opposed to extending the Patriot Act until 2017 in exchange for tinkering around the edges of civil liberties reform. C4L members who oppose the Patriot Act should contact their Senators at 202-224-3121, and tell them to oppose the USA Freedom Act.

What we need is a Constitutional Truth in Advertising Amendment.

How far would this thing get if it were more properly referred to as the USA Jackboot Heel Act?

Such Orwellian names for bills....

It's way past time we started fighting back.

We should start with the unofficial names, they being easier. Like, for instance, 'Obamadon'tcare'.

USA Jackboot Heel Act

I like it, TRUTH IN ADVERTISING / TITLES would eliminate a lot of confusion for the sheeples.
