Standard smoke and mirrors and spin and bullshit.

The system is corrupt, beyond redemption.

Well. Sometimes we want to force a feller to show his cards, you know. Or not. Fiddy-fiddy chance here given junior's position on sanctions.

I'll say this, though, and have mentioned it elsewhere. That screed isn't going to go through anyhow given the state of geo-politics at the moment and support for it is dwindling every day as nations reconfigger economic infrastructure and whatnot. Whatnot is broad, btw. So we want to force the one to acknlowledge this. It is absolutely true that the U.S. is economically isolating itself from the globe at the moment.

In the new American article, IIRC all Randal said was that it should be negotiated, correct? It sounds like he has problems with the treaty and he is voicing his concerns that it needs to go through the congress so he can submit his own changes/amendments to it:

Fast-track authority is a provision under the Trade Promotion Authority that requires Congress to review a Free Trade Act, or FTA, under limited debate, in an accelerated time frame subject to a yes-or-no vote.

Under fast-track authority, there is no provision for Congress to modify the agreement by submitting amendments. Fast-track authority also treats the FTA as if it were trade legislation being negotiated by the executive branch, not as a treaty that would require a two-thirds vote from the Senate. The purpose is to assure foreign partners that the FTA, once signed, will not be changed during the legislative process.

I read this a while ago, his issue wasn't with TPP itself, but that Congress should be involved. Neither of the articles have Rand commenting/giving his position on the contents of TPP.

I don't know why but am reminded of this thing I was reading earlier. I suppose it's just a romper room kind of look at why the tpp is doomed...

From Kissinger (http://rt.com/news/203795-kissinger-warns-cold-war/)for what it's worth...

Calling the sanctions against Moscow “counterproductive,” the diplomat said that they set a dangerous precedent. Such actions, he believes, may result in other big states trying to take “protective measures” and strictly regulate their own markets in future.

And, really, it's not like this isn't already happening. Much has been shared around the boards about it.
