Good interview with Rand. It was pretty short, but he hit all the points he needed to. The analyst panel afterward was all praise for him. Worst was Andrea Mitchell saying Rand was trying to have it both ways on voter I.D., but Scarborough and Steele pointed out that the perception of voter I.D. as being racist or about suppressing voting participation is more important than the reality, and that's what Rand's working to change by saying it's not unreasonable to show photo I.D., but also calling for expanding early voting options.

Average of 2 weeks early voting & absentee for primary and general elections from now on and I think things would change for the better. More turnout that way.

Also from today's MtP:

Former RNC chair: Paul '16 GOP favorite

Michael Steele, the former chairman of the Republican National Committee, tabbed Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) as the front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination in 2016.

Paul, who recently said the Republican brand “sucks,” has made an effort to reach out to African-Americans and other traditionally Democratic voters in recent months to broaden the GOP’s appeal.

“He’s got the organization on the ground right now. He’s in all 50 states. He’s got young folks gravitating toward him. He’s got African-Americans taking a pause and looking at him,” Steele said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

here's a tube with the panel discussion right after, said some favorable things. Rand was discussed later in the program too.

I think name recognition and perception trumps everything else. Ron Paul was perceived as crazy old uncle Paul because people (media) perceived his FP as crazy or weak.
