A gunman believed to have opened fire at Marysville-Pilchuck High School Friday morning is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to two law-enforcement sources.
Police have not released details, but there are reports of as many as seven other people shot about 10:45 a.m.

I was eating lunch today and a woman and a man was talking about this.

The woman said that ALL schools should have guards searching through the belongings of children to make sure they don't bring guns or knives or whatever. I got a bit nosey and told her that prisons does this, but knives and drugs still get through. Plus pencils, scissors and other items can be used as weapons to kill a bunch of people too.

That would be ineffective as police aren't trained for security, but for law enforcement. Furthermore, our streets would be less safe with law enforcement resources being diverted to schools. The proper solution is to drastically expand the scope of the TSA.

don't know if this means anything, but i ran this by my wife, 4th grade teacher, of a post in the local paper in the Marysville area that said...''all you mean girls have to start being nicer'' in response to the shootings.....my wife was not surprised at the comment....interesting.
