Yikes.

President Obama may have been busy golfing this weekend, and his brand new Ebola Czar may have had more pressing matters to attend than the White House's Saturday evening meeting on the US "response to domestic Ebola cases" (because clearly the Ebola Czar is superfluous at such Ebola-related events), but that doesn't mean that the administration will once again be caught with its pants down the next time an Ebola index patient is unveiled on US soil. Nope.

In taking a page right out of America's response to the Ebola pandemic in... West Africa, where the US has dispatched several thousands troops to do, something, unclear what, earlier today, it was revealed that the U.S. military is forming a 30-person "quick-strike team", which according to CNN is "equipped to provide direct treatment to Ebola patients inside the United States, a Defense Department official told CNN's Barbara Starr on Sunday."
[...]
To summarize: the Pentagon, as in the US army, will provide direct treatment to Ebola patients.

So just how exactly is the US army's crack 30-person "SWAT" team which has a whopping 5 doctors, more competent to deal to deal with what is, at last check, a medical situation than, say, America's medical professionals? Or is, in the parlance of our times, where an "Iraq military advisor" really means crack commando fighting Syrian troops on the ground on behalf of Qatar and Saudi Arabia, "direct treatment" merely a euphemism for something far less enjoyable?

For the partial answer to some of these questions, please read "Public Health Emergency Declared In Connecticut Over Ebola: Civil Rights Suspended Indefinitely, and also "Obama Mobilizes National Guard, Army Reserves To Fight Ebola" - they serve as a good starting point for where all of this is ultimately headed.

The military probably did an assessment and found that the CDC and other domestic government agencies were completely dysfunctional and could not be relied on in a crisis.

Why do I have a feeling that drones will be involved with this "strike team" ?

what could possibly go wrong...

doesn't seem like the CDC or especially these local hospitals are prepared to deal with it

Dreaming of drones? Someday soon, a swarm is buzzing
to "serve and protect" everyone. The future is going
to be here just a moment from now!

Some of these little buggers are very tiny!

This military propaganda video hopes for these KILLERS:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z78mgfKprdg
(It just happens to looks a bit like a 20X larger
version of the 6 pin DIP IC deep inside you desktop
PC power supply...)

Maybe outfit those with an Ebola Biosensor(?), low grade
fever thermo vision, IR and/or color camera. Maybe it
could inject an Ebola vaccine, but more likely it will only
guber-kill, just exploding like the video demonstrates.

Here is a (wealthy) consumer model drone toy (larger)
very nifty! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ou75qLKUpI
Check out that speed and maneuverability!

Of course, to protect all the drones from EMP countermeasures
and/or RF jamming, those ideas will require new legislation, LOL.

"SWAT" team members had better hope that their masters give them an effective vaccine. I would imagine that there would be a 100% chance of infection from handling an unwilling customer.

Once a person is sick/suffering enough, I bet they will fully cooperate with the hope of getting far/way
from and no longer endangering their loved ones, getting helped/cured, and/or just to ease their suffering
with better care. At some point, they might even desire palliative end-of-life measures, if necessary.

Ebola-swat team workers that encounter spatter and spray will have to really be on their protocol game
and have already been immunized (or recovered and naturally immune from re-infection, if that's even
possible.)

Otherwise, the job may require some real compassionate - hardcore bad ass hybrid types. We got this!

Yep,
Any forced "quarantine isolation" measures might be the biggest "cooperation" problem - especially
with a hard-headed person who is absolutely convinced that they are NOT infected (yet?) and not
wanting to be very near or forced into close contact, locked up together with those who might
already be infected!

The nightmare of combative patients breaching the good doctor's super-doper hazmat barriers
immediately comes to mind!

I wonder if the E-team will include a sniper located upwind and safely across the street?

I expect the brave E-team will just be there to supervise and verbally talk the local medical staff
through all the protocol procedures. Of course all of it will be done ...from a safe distance.

Hopefully by day 42, an E-team won't be needed because they've already got all the Ebola licked...

Strange. Isn't deploying federal troops within the borders illegal?

Things are only illegal in modern America if there's someone willing and able to enforce the law. Haven't you been following the career of Hillary Clinton?
