The war on rideshare services continues in Tuscaloosa, AL, where officials recently announced that, starting last Wednesday, anyone caught driving for Uber could face arrest for violating the city's antiquated vehicle-for-hire ordinance.

Wow, this article starts out intereting.....

“MADD supports new ridesharing platforms like Uber, Lyft and Sidecar as well as traditional taxi services that are enabling more options to provide safe rides in communities across the country.”

Translation: "We support the heavy-handed unreasonable laws that we helped to get passed, and not necessarily the other ones out there."

While we focus on the cities that are being heavy handed and not allowing Uber and Lyft, think of all of the cities that have welcomed Uber and Lyft with open arms despite the infantile screaming form the cab unions. It seems expected that the cab companies would have enough pull in some towns, they are the only reason that Uber and Lyft are being attacked by the government in some areas.

The reason most towns are ignoring the cab companies is simple, Uber and Lyft aren't just taking marketshare from cab companies, they are expanding the market for ride services. Uber is now the "cool" way to get around, young people love it and many older people embrace it as well.

It is in fact decreasing DUIs, less people are driving under the influence because of Lyft and Uber.
