View Full Version : THE POSITIVE BLIMP THREAD: Show your support here

Mental Dribble

We all know on this forum some support this effort and some don't.

I'd like to start a thread that people can show their support through.

Let the guys organizing this know we are behind them. We support their efforts and can't wait to see the Blimp fly!

If you disagree I politely ask you to use one of the many other posts to voice your concerns.

GO RON PAUL!

Elijah, you've been doing some great work. Now can you just answer the questions people have asked so we can tell the trolls to shut up and go away, and to convince the well-meaning people who aren't sure what's going on that this is a worthwhile project?

The funny thing is that 80% of all Elijah/Trevor fans joined in November, a few in October, and a few in December, but only about 20% are from anyone who has been working on this forum for longer. Isn't that interesting?

You disagree with people being able to come to a thread and speak with other like minded individuals? You disagree with a thread that can show the amount of support an idea / effort has without wading through the negative answers? There is a thread, actually several threads for you to go back and fourth on. This is a thread of solidarity and support. If you want to start an opposing one be my guess, but we all deserve a place we can go and speak with others who support this effort.

I can't purchase a timeshare on the blimp (non-US citizen) but I would like to. I am very impressed by the innovation and entrepreneurial spirit shown by the principals involved with this endeavour. And, personally, I am happy that it is now a company with employees and such. The people behind this are now relying on it to earn money, that means they have so much more incentive to make it great. If they make money on it, that means they've done a great job. Capitalism is beautiful.

I pledged $100, and I will be fulfilling my pledge tomorrow. Personally, I trust people who believe in Ron Paul, and am willing to take a chance on that trust. (If something were to "go wrong," there are civil remedies available, regardless of the stated Terms.)

When George Washington asked people to follow him, they didn't say "let me read the fine print." ;)

Yes, I'm another Johnny-come-lately who feels he has a right to express his opinion...

Thank you Elijah and co. for getting this together. A private, for profit company was the only real way to get this done and I think you have all taken a reasonable path. There is so much quibbling about alternative A vs. alternative B. Some decisions matter a great deal but most don't make a hell of a lot of difference one way or the other. Where the blimp flies, how much the organizers get paid, could volunteers take some of the positions, etc. - relatively minor matters that will not be significant issues when it is all over and done. Whether the blimp goes up at all? That's something that will make a difference.

I was never crazy about the idea but you all are taking initiative and putting something together. Thank you.

A purchase from me is incoming.

We are going to need to start making pro-blimp propaganda.

T-shirts
"Pro-Blimp and proud of it"
"I survived Forum v. Blimp".
"No such thing as 'Blimpgate'"

For the stoners...
"Let's get high and spread the message"
"Look Ma! I'm high!" on the back: "No really, I'm 2000 feet up and really hungry and this thing doesn't even have Doritos"

For the lazy
"Please send youtube link of blimp"

For the perverted
"My candidate's dirigible is larger than yours"
"Let me show you my dirigible"
"My dirigible needs to be refueled, do you accept google-checkout?"

Reasons to support the blimp from previous posts.

"I think the blimp will have a huge impact. I live in Minnesota, land of 10,000 lakes and 10 times as many liberal socialist wingnuts and Paul Welstone had a green bus and that is all the media focused on. Following the freeking bus. The green bus was here, the green bus was there. They reported on the bus all the time. If the blimp makes a splash at the teaparty, it could be big news and any town it is in, the local news/papers will cover it because they are not directed by the msm. We definetly should start a website start a website if this gets off the ground to track the blimp. Kinda like where's george? We could have a comments section for people to enter when and where they saw the blimp."

"Blimps are hot. They have marquee names, make appearances, draw crowds. People scramble to get close to them, to touch them, to scrawl graffiti on them with lipsticks and felt-tip pens. It's true not just of Goodyear blimps but of a crowd of others as well, floating over everything from the Kentucky Derby to a frog-jumping contest."

"Blimps are showing up as trendy props in TV advertising, too. An actor bungee-jumps from one and scoops up a dab of salsa; a quarterback phones two blimp pilots flying over the stadium, to see if he left his truck lights on; a sweepstakes team arrives at a winner's front door with the big check while a blimp hangs in the sky."

"Blimps bestow a certain cachet on the events they cover and on the companies they represent," says Michael Bolton, a blimp marketing man. "They make everything seem more important and more exciting by their very presence." A Goodyear pilot adds, "You've heard the saying that blimps make people smile and dogs bark. It's true. We're ambassadors of goodwill."

"The value of those fleeting looks, calculated at TV's extraordinary advertising rates, is what keeps blimps in the air there days - even over domed stadiums. If Goodyear gets 45 to 90 seconds of national TV exposure during a World Series game or the Super Bowl, it's worth millions. These rewards are more than enough to justify the cost of maintaining three big blimps."

"The media will jump all over this BIG TIME. It's just too good of a story to pass up!

New supporters will be drawn to the excitement of a grassroots campaign that supports their man with a blimp!"

Make no small plans for they do not excite men nor womens souls.

By using a blimp we will energize and maximize our base of support. We need to inspire our donors and inspire our volunteers to achieve great things.

I may be a forum newbie, but:

The Ron Paul Blimp is totally brilliant! And making a private advertising company to do it is even more totally brilliant!

First, it allows the Blimp project to put in place the kind of hard-core full-time infrastructure it needs to get maximum value - not people trying to run a huge project on stolen moments at their work, people for whom running the Ron Paul Blimp IS their work. That's cool.

And second, making a private company in one superhuman bound of incredible internet initiative has sidestepped all the evil barriers that the powers-that-be have put in place to keep us from spending as much money as we can raise on getting our message out. Unlimited donations! Do you realize what that means? One click from one software mogul or well-off businessman and this is now a whole new game!

Feel fear, Mitt Romney! Feel fear, Rudy Giuliani! You may be rich as politicians go, but there are people out there who are far richer and who've about had it with you and your creepy NeoCon thugs decimating our party, plundering our nation, and devastating our image in the world. And now we have a vehicle with which to finally let you have it - no $2,300 limit, not $5,000 PAC BS, no limit whatsoever. Capitalism is at the door and it's got an angry look on its face. This is going to be SO MUCH FUN!

Go Elijah! Go Blimp Team! Go Ron Paul!

AND GO BLIMP!!!

a lot of concerns discussed yesterday have been addressed.
including my concern about the strange pricing.

that's not exactly "showing support" right now, but considering what I said yesterday it's quite positive, so don't start a fight again :)

there's a mistake in the pricing scheme though. one of you might want to contact them as I can't find contact info of the webmaster and don't have the time to look any further right now:
$25,000 for 52 hrs.
that's got to be 45 hours, not 52, to be in accordance with the other options.

Jealous? Talk about random...I guess Ron Paul must also be jealous then, since he's one of the most financial conservatives out there who always preaches against unneeded wasteful spending. Or did you not know that? I'de suggest reading some of his finance/economy articles.

Elijah , I am amazed . Looking at the web page and the team that has come together and the ideas that have been contributed in just two weeks??? This is one of the most incredible things I have ever seen. Really it looks like a miracle.

A few days ago when I made a contribution to the mini-bomb on the 30th I was looking at some of the names of individual donors as they flashed across the screen. I asked myself could November 5th have really happened? All those people? And yet again just as unbelievable and just as real there is a blimp.

The miracles keep happening and "Joan Of Arc" seems to come to mind as I hear about more and more about the incredible efforts being made on behalf of Dr. Paul at the grassroots level.

Getting back down to earth thank you and your wonderful team for trying to do what you can and even if the blimp ultimately doesn't meet all the aspirations we have for it , and even if Dr. Paul doesn't become our next President I hope everyone will feel like it was worth the effort .

Your people skills are amazing your efforts have inspired me and I already sent my $100 pledge plus $50 for posting the flight path and another $100 if we can get a video of some of the organizers.

Thank you and all the best, your fellow Ron Paul supporter.

Now I support it even more when I can see the flight plan. Almost to $50,000 after 3 days, very encouraging.

Hopefully after the blimp project winds down, Liberty Political Advertising can team up with DownsizeDC.org (http://www.downsizedc.org) and really get the word out on minimizing tyranny and maximizing liberty!
