I know there were some folks on these forums who were absolutely terrified of ISIS. Probably hiding under their beds reading this. I have good news for you guys, ISIS isn't here yet! Although stay tuned, I hear there were some sightings of Al Shabab, Al Nusra, Al Bundy, Al rosenthal Alakazaham or something at a strip club in Tijuana so you guys might have to go back to hiding again soon. But you are safe for now, just for now....


The Department of Homeland Security felt the need to try to get out in front of the growing panic around ISIS fighters sneaking into the United States from Mexico, pointing out that’s not actually a thing that’s happening.

This stands in stark contrast to Rep. Duncan Hunter’s (R – CA) claims that “at least 10″ ISIS fighters were caught along the border, and that he was secretly tipped off by the border patrol. The incident appears to have never actually happened.

The story is such a good one that many politicians don’t want to let it being untrue stand in the way, and several, including Rep. Jeff Duncan (R – SC) and Gov. Rick Perry (R – TX) are continuing to hype it. Sen. John McCain (R – AZ), always eager to double-down on such fears, decided to go for broke and claim the Canadian border was the real threat.

The narrative ignores the nature of ISIS, and its recruitment of Westerners. The whole point of this, and the reason ISIS infiltration was seen as a threat in the first place, was not because Westerners are the only ones who know where Mexico is, but rather that these are US, EU, etc. citizens who don’t have to sneak in, and can legally enter the country with little problem.

The Mexico thing never made sense. I don't see Mexico being a very friendly place to Islam in general, much less radical Islam.

John McCain revived fears last night that the Canadian border is "porous" and would make an easy entry point for attacks against the United States.

During a tense debate with former White House spokesman Jay Carney, the Republican senator and former presidential candidate argued that even though there is no specific threat to the U.S. from ISIS, there is still reason to be afraid.

A Mexican ISIS assault doesn't jive with me either. In reality, we should be worried about ISIS fighters sneaking across from Russia to Alaska on timber rafts held together by maple syrup imported from ISIS strongholds in Canada.

This still makes me laugh. "Uh... we don't have a good reason to be afraid of ISIS right now... but just... um... BOO! BE AFRAID!"

So far the blaze is the only source I have seen on this today, but I have a feeling we are gonna be hearing more about the subject in the future. Despite what the Gov and it's supporters in here say.

That's assuming that the alleged person crossing says, "hey, I am an ISIS fighter," a thing which –– even if all of this is presumed to be true –– I highly doubt would ever happen.

And THAT presumes the alleged persons are caught at all.

Why come here illegally when it is easy to get a work or student visa?
Hell, they probably have been bringing them in here for months now on C130's for training. No telling how many have jumped ship and disappeared into the population and are now pursuing the American dream.

All valid points. I guess our government is lucky people don't give a second thought into what the television tells them.
