Police mistakenly think black teen is home burglar

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Police say they mistook a black teenager for a burglar and pepper-sprayed him inside the home of his white foster parents.

Police in the suburban Raleigh town of Fuquay-Varina say they responded Monday to a call from a neighbor who saw DeShawn Currie walk through a door to the garage. Authorities say they used pepper spray when Currie “became profane, threatening and belligerent” and “refused to follow instructions” from officers.

Currie told WTVD (http:// abc11.tv/1qhh7qE) that he became angry when three officers showed up and noted that the 18-year-old was not included in family photos on a mantle.

Ricky and Stacy Tyler say they have fostered Currie for about a year, recently moved into the home, and don’t know all their neighbors.

So wait.....3 people with guns trespass into a teens home, yell at him that this is not his home, and when the teen gets upset the 3 intruders attack him, and the TEEN did something wrong?

If the boy didn't want to get pepper-sprayed, he shouldn't have been black.

From the comments section of the article:

Ray Taylor:

Here's what DeShawn Currie should take away as a lesson learned: no matter what the situation might be, it's never a good idea to be belligerent and uncooperative with police officers.

Ray, just want to know how those black leather boots taste, since you seem to be doing an awful lot of licking.

So will Ray be saying the same thing if an armed person with a badge invades his home and attempts to rape his wife? Will Ray tell her to stop being so uncooperative?? No matter the situation....

The interesting part of his comment is that he's actually right.

It's not a good idea to be rude or belligerent, even if justified, toward police officers because they can and will fuck you up or end your life and get away with it.

"Now you see my fists?"

"Yeah, what about 'em?"

"They're getting ready to fuck you up."

Ya good point. Sadly Kelly Thomas wasn't even rude or belligerent. Just non-compliant. Even that's enough to get your face smashed by a taser 45 times.

You can even be compliant and get killed. Reaching to get your wallet to comply with a police request is enough to die by cop.

Heck, you don't even have to do anything and get killed. Answering your door with a Wiimote in your hand is enough to die by cop.

Trying to grab your walking stick so you can stand and talk to the cops? Getting your cane so that you can stand and talk to police is enough to die by cop.

Lesson: Do not look at cops. Do not talk to cops. Do not call cops. Do not be around cops. Do not drive near cops. Do not look in a cop's general direction. Do not interact with cops.

Do. Not. Interact. With. Cops.

Sadly, it seems unavoidable. This man didn't even do anything wrong and he got assaulted by fat hogs with badges. There was no way for him to avoid the cops. He was a passenger in a car and they got pulled for bogus reasons. Fucking bullshit.

Or unavoidable if cops trespass into your home and start accusing you of being a trespasser.

Whoa now, let's not go too far here. This boy was black in a white family's home. That's reasonable suspicion right thar.
