Police Shoot, Kill Man Following Domestic Dispute in Brooklyn
Police say officers shot and killed a man armed with a knife after being called to the scene of an argument at a home in Brooklyn Friday night.
According to police, officers responded to a domestic dispute call made by the man's mother at East 26th Street and Avenue Y in Sheepshead Bay around 7:30 p.m.
Police say 28-year-old Denis Volchkin was sitting on the couch with a knife in his hand when they arrived at the home.
According to police, the officers asked Volchkin to drop the knife, but police say he refused and lunged at the officers with the knife.
Police say officers then shot him once in the torso.
He was pronounced dead at Coney Island Hospital.
Police say at least four other knives in the room.
Two other family members in the home at the time were not injured in the incident.
This is the third police involved shooting this week.
