There is another in New Jersey with very little media attention.

One of the comments on the story had an interesting explanation, if it is all accurate:

Well - and I'm not saying this IS what happened, only that it's very possible - since the story gives you almost nothing to go on, rather than just assume the DA and police are complete idiots (sometimes, sure, but let's at least start with the benefit of the doubt) consider that decapitated only means his head was detached. It does not say "cut off with an ax" which is what I think some people are imagining.

You may not know this, but in ye olde days, hanging was a serious business - you had to get the length of the rope just right based on the weight of the condemned and the type of "drop" - too short, and they would suffocate slowly. Too long and - yep, decapitation. (Hanging was supposed to be "humane" and snap the neck instantly, the knot was designed with this in mind by putting sideways force, I think.)

MANY people tie their own feet and hands before hanging themselves, so depending on where he hung himself, with what, and how far he fell, this is quite possibly the answer here.

So - if you were the police/coroner/DA and you walked into the living room, found the man's headless body tied hand and feet on the floor under the 2nd floor balcony where his head was still attached to the rope.......maybe you'd conclude suicide too?

I could be totally wrong of course - more details will surely come out and we'll find out if the police are in fact complete morons, or had a reason for believing this. I almost never defend cops on anything but this time, I think this will be the case.

(Also, read not too long ago about a guy who cut off his own head with a chainsaw after binding HIS hands and feet. So anything's possible with human ingenuity.)

post it. looks like a self inflicted one in New Jersey in addition to the two previous ones.
