The word albatross comes to mind when thinking about the following...

Eric Holder, who resigned yesterday from the Justice Department, racked up a whopping 812 settlements that amounted to $155,753,913,476 in fines.

Grabien has compiled the complete list (https://grabien.com/feature.php?id=15) of the settlements, along with the alleged crimes committed.

Albatross.

The financial crimes and monetary abuse are commited by the Federal Reserve and the US Govt. I'm guessing those fines were charged to private companies.

The crimes are committed on behalf of private companies (and individuals). The whole point of these abuses is to suck the money out of the pockets of many powerless individuals and put it in the pockets of the few and powerful. And it's worked better than anything they could ever have hoped for.
