The Argentine government has used drones to catch out wealthy tax evaders who had not declared mansions and swimming pools.
Unmanned aircraft were dispatched over an upper class area of Buenos Aires and discovered 200 homes and 100 pools that had not been detailed on returns.
Tax officials said the drones took pictures of luxury houses standing on lots registered as empty.
The evasions found by the drones amounted to missing tax payments of more than $2 million and owners of the properties have been warned they now face large fines.
The unregistered mansions and pools were found in an area about 10 miles south of the city and, according to the tax agency, they appeared to be large and constructed with “premium materials”.

I must be old fashioned, because when I see "drone", I still immediately think of something like a Global Hawk.
But given the article says its about one place, "an area about 10 miles south of the city", then I think its probably more like a quadcopter with a video camera.

They will send in the firepower if they don't get their protection money.

Surveillance drones over private property should make for good skeet shooting.

An X-47B Unmanned Combat Air System (UCAS) taxies and launches from the flight deck
of the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77).
USS George H.W. Bush is the first aircraft carrier to successfully catapult launch an unmanned aircraft from its flight deck.

PS Note . . . there is no landing back on the carrier deck of the X-47B . . . I doubt ever really (but never say never) LOL

The cattle owners will go to great lengths to make sure they squeeze ever last inkling of resource they can out of the udders of their herd.

You don't own anything in any country. If you are born, you and everything you own must be hit by the state so they can collect their ten pounds of flesh from you for simply being born in an imaginary set of lines on a map.

Some would see this as these tax evaders getting their "comeuppance" but it's really just another example of the Government caring too much about what people do with their property and money.

Forget Brittney, LEAVE PEOPLE ALONE!

With so many governments acting the way they are, I'm having a hard time understanding why more people aren't getting fed up...

I'm having a hard time understanding why fascists are so illiterate. The 4th Amendment clearly states that you are secure in your persons and property except upon a warrant being issued with probable cause. Yet you grab you ankles for petty tyrants like the one in the video (Lee County FL) that use warrantless aerial reconnaissance to ESTABLISH their probable cause before a judge.

As much as I don't like LEOs union contracts, I believe that they should be free of aerial monitoring of their homes.

. And that makes a few people unhappy. One of his employees, he said, received a telephone call from a retired New York City policeman, who didn’t want people to see that he had two Cadillacs in his driveway.

What happens the day you are accused of tax evasion, and even though you know it's false, the drones are coming?

Tax evader = free man. Don't let your chains make you envious.

I'm having a hard time understanding... [snip]

You should just leave it at that and save yourself from the pain of having to think on any subject that comes up. Just copy and paste that phrase and you're good to go.

This has been going on here for years with plain old airplanes. The township recently had a vote for it as if they do it this year with the rest of the county they get a bulk discount. This year they decided not to because of a tight budget, it's been done in the past. The appraiser uses it to see if things like driveways, new outbuildings, etc are built. If any questions come up they can comb through the past images to see when the person needed to start paying more.

Drones are just a way to make these services cheaper if you don't need a man driving an airplane around.

This is true, they used some aerial photo's to classify my mothers property as wetlands also. It took her years to overturn that.

Don't need or care for your sympathy. How unimportant does your opinion make you feel now?

Will we be seeing a tax break? I'd be happier if they just reduced the cost to zero and minded their own business.
