Congressman seeks ban to stop federal employees from watching porn all day

In May, the Environmental Protection Agency’s inspector general disclosed that a senior-level employee was caught spending as much as six hours of his day looking at porn. The IG found that the employee had downloaded and viewed more than 7,000 pornographic files. The Justice Department is investigating further for possible prosecution.

Four months later, the employee has not been fired and is still collecting government pay, Environment & Energy Publishing reported last week.

That prompted Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) to introduce a bill the day Congress left town to make it a uniform federal government law that employees cannot look at porn at work.

Many agencies, including the EPA, have such rules, but Meadows says they are not enforced. EPA’s spokeswoman Liz Purchia confirmed that the porn-watching employee is still employed but on leave, but could not comment further because of the ongoing investigation.

Let them watch the porn. It's probably cheaper than what their jobs are.

Agreed. I'd rather have them watch porn at the EPA than tell me I can't own/build a wood burning fireplace!

The entire department should be dissolved. Fire this one. There are dozens more wasting time. Fire them, too. Fire all the supervisors for negligence, then fire the people above that for their negligence. With the blazing speed of a three-toed sloth this administration uses to appoint people, the department likely wouldn't be restaffed during this term.

After seeing how much better life is without the EPA, it's possible the next president will just ask to abolish it.

LOL.

Similar to the NFL controversy. The desire for "laws" to cover every last minute detail of our lives is overwhelming for some. Maybe Congress should make a law firing and banning every Federal Employee who is accused of domestic violence? Does there need to be a law banning playing golf when they are "on the job"? How about yoga? Can a federal employee do yoga six hours a day at work? How about online shopping? Playing solitaire? Standing on their heads? These things must be banned.

We need more lawz!

Of course, an employer could just fire an employee that is not doing their job. Naw, too simple.

Don't forget the Union. Unions only exist for government employees anymore.
