View Full Version : Donations REALLY slow today. How about a quick $5 boost?

Donations are horribly slow today. The Christmas buying season and the upcoming and recently past fund raising events are probably keeping donations low.

How about we all give a quick $5.00 donation to help boost today's numbers. At last check only $28,600 has been raised today.

I just hit submit for my $5.00 donation. Who else is with me?

It's going to be very slow now we're in the same month as the next money bomb.

Hopefully the media around Dec. 16th will make up for that.

This actually isn't quite as bad as it seems, we're staying pretty much even with this day last week, so we'll probably finish around $37,000.

Side question: does the campaign get charged anything for each donation they process? I know credit card payment gateways take a percentage of each transaction (and sometimes a per-transaction fee too). Does that apply to online fundraising?

I don't see why it wouldn't.

My company gets charged like $.07 or something for online cc transactions.

They do get charged I think they talked about it when addressing concerns about the Stormfront donation or something, or maybe after noveber 5th. Cant remember when but they specifically mentioned credit card charges taken out.

Actually, as someone else pointed out earlier, Sundays are always slow. Also, as of 23:30 EST it looks like there was as much raised today as there was last Sunday. Looks like we'll probably finish the night on the high side of 37K.

Personally, I sent a big donation on Nov 5th, 11th, and 30th, and slightly smaller ones on each of the days the campaign sent out an email fund raiser. Unless there's word from the campaign, I'm saving the rest for the Tea Party. I'm really hoping we'll break $10 million on that day - which will generate a HUGE wave of publicity for Dr. Paul.

I don't think $5 boosts are a good idea. Remember that the campaign has to pay fees to accept donations online. I imagine that the larger the transaction, the lower the percentage fee because there is probably a base rate underneath it.
