Rafael Ted Cruz's statement “Those who hate Israel hate America” will affect his career politically?
Will his public support/financial funding increases or decrease due to such a stance in the post 9/11 America?

Lebanon envoy withdraws in protest of Israel remarks

BEIRUT: U.S. Senator Ted Cruz was booed offstage during a dinner for the Middle East's Christian conference in Washington D.C., with his pro-Zionists comments causing many Lebanese figures to withdraw in anger, including the Lebanese ambassador to the U.S.

“Christians have no greater ally than Israel,” Sen. Ted Cruz said, addressing a crowd of Arab Christian figures at a fundraising dinner for the non-profit organization "In Defense of Christians" in Washington D.C.

Billed as a keynote speaker at the event, Cruz switched the topic from defending Christians in the Middle East against terrorism, to the need to form an alliance between Christians and Jews, which he identified as “people of good faith.”

“Tonight, we are all united in defense of Christians. Tonight, we are all united in defense of Jews,” he said. “Together, against those who would persecute and murder those who dare disagree with their religious teachings.”

As part of the controversial speech that led to the withdrawal of Ambassador Antoine Chedid, Cruz evoked the old argument that whoever disliked the state of Israel was anti-Semitic and did not follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.

“Those who hate Israel hate America,” he said, while crowd began to turn against him. “Those who hate Jews hate Christians. If those in this room will not recognize that, then my heart weeps.

“If you hate the Jewish people you are not reflecting the teachings of Christ,” he added, addressing an audience representing the Christian churches of the Middle East, including Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai.

The republican senator from Texas, who was a member of George W. Bush’s electoral campaign in 1999, also used the podium to equate fundamentalist groups massacring Christians in Iraq and Syria, to Palestinian and Lebanese groups fighting Israel.

The righteous anger toward Ted Cruz

By Jordan Brunner
September 15, 2014 at 7:45 pm

Sen. Ted Cruz isn’t helping us move forward in our foreign relations. If anything, he is moving us backwards. Recently, the fiery Republican from Texas attended a posh gala (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/09/11/ted-cruz-booed-offstage_n_5805332.html) that was organized around the plight of Middle Eastern Christians. Cruz made the comment that “Christians have no greater ally than Israel.” He was then booed off stage.
Perhaps this was justified; in fact, this might be the most misguided comment that Ted Cruz has ever made, which is really saying something. It demonstrates his lack of knowledge about Israel and its situation in the Middle East. He was trying to defend Israel and support the beleaguered Middle Eastern Christians in the countries of Iraq and Syria. For that, I laud him, especially since I am an American Jew myself. However, he went about it the wrong way by concentrating on religion.
So why were the Christians in that audience so angry? After all, Christians are some of the staunchest supporters of both Jews and Israel. Here’s why: These Christians know that Ted Cruz didn’t know what he was talking about. First of all, even among American Jews, Muslims are preferred to Christians according to a poll by the Pew Foundation.

So looks like this is the end of Rafael Edward Cruz's campaign.

The bad news for Ted Cruz: His Iowa win looks very similar to Mike Huckabee’s and Rick Santorum’s

By Scott Clement, Kevin Uhrmacher and Dan Keating February 2

Ted Cruz's Iowa victory was a surprise, after the final polls showed him trailing Donald Trump. But Cruz also followed a very familiar path to victory in the Hawkeye State: heavy reliance on strong conservatives and evangelical Christians -- and not on first-time caucus-goers.

The entrance polling shows Iowa's Republican electorate was rich with both groups, with more than 6 in 10 identifying as evangelical Christians (64 percent) and 4 in 10 saying their political views are "very conservative."

More than three-quarters of Cruz's supporters identified as evangelical Christians, compared with fewer than 6 in 10 of Marco Rubio and Donald Trump supporters. The concentration of evangelical Christians among Cruz backers is similar to the last two Iowa Republican victors, Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee; these voters made up 76 and 83 percent of their supporters, respectively. Both Trump and Rubio received a greater share of their support from evangelicals than Mitt Romney in 2012 or John McCain in 2008, both of whom lost the state but eventually won the party's nomination.
