In response to their excluding the only man fit to be our next President, we need to start a donation to run the USA Today ad in the Des Moines Register on the same day that they run the Huckleberry and/or Romney write-ups. I would suggest the Des Moines Meetup spearhead this effort.

On the day of each of the profiles, we should run the ad on the page opposite the profile.

At least we can try to get good letters to the editor posted. I submitted three comments on stories on Des Moines Register.com last night.

All helps - but of course only to the internet savvy folks - also wrote a letter for the print edition last Thursday morning, hope they print it, copied below:

Want change in Washington? Look to Paul

The Democratic and Republican Parties have grown to look more and more alike in recent years with ever larger government, and an interventionist foreign policy that is bankrupting the nation. With the recent decline in the value of the dollar, Ron Paul’s long held views on monetary policy are receiving long overdue serious attention. On a recent show on Kudlow and Company on CNBC the host, Larry Kudlow, asked his guests to comment on Dr. Paul’s views on monetary reform and prefaced by saying he found them “very interesting”. Three out of four of the guests on the show agreed that the present monetary policy is not working and was destroying the value of the dollar. One of the guests, Don Luskin, has repeatedly strongly endorsed Ron Paul on the show. http://www.thelibertypapers.org/2007/11/09/ron-paul-on-kudlow-company/

In looking for change in Washington, we really need to look at fundamentals. Printing money to support an expanding government and interventionist foreign policy is seriously eroding the value of our currency, and bankrupting the nation. If we look to the Constitution as Dr Paul advises we find that we need to restore more power to the States and to individuals with less taxes and a smaller Federal Government, engaging in the world through talking and trading rather than military intervention.

These ideas seem to be becoming very popular judging by the surge of support Dr Paul is receiving at GOP Straw Polls around the nation. He’s placed in the top 3 in 82.9% of the straw polls (34 out of 41) and has finished 1st in 51.2% of the straw polls (21 out of 41). And winning all the online post debate polls.

Clearly there is a mood for fundamental change in the U.S. and Dr. Paul seems to have a very good understanding of the issues at hand.
