Hey all,

There is a bill currently in the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee that I think we ought to get behind.

Reasons:

1. Its about Space and economic development!
2. Its a bout property rights, something we all love
3. It kicks the UN in the Balls
4. Its a well written bill
5. Its lobbyists are silicon valley billionaires

The Act is the American Space Technology for Exploring Resource Opportunities in Deep Space (ASTEROIDS) Act of 2014. It basically tells the FAA to start working on establishing property rights for mined asteroids in space.

Now this could do with some friendly house co-sponsors who want to look forward thinking, and serious. Without some support this will never make it out of committee.

It will also need a matching bill in the Senate... This could be a timely thing for Rand to get behind. We can just steal this issue and run with it, hit the media out of nowhere, with the liberty caucus once again be the team that brings you excitement and long range thinking.

This bill is about intellectual, entrepreneurship and economic prosperity.

People who are going to hate it will be the super greens, and the UN boosters.

Three things that are well thought out in this bill:

1. It recognizes this will be an international process, we need other countries to recognize property right too. International obligations need to be brought into alignment.
2. It is a slow process, not a BOOM Property rights.
3. It gives federal courts exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising in space.

Thoughts?
