Did the civil rights act in any way contribute to the war on drugs? I need some reference if you have them.

Nothing is connecting that I can think of. The Civil Rights Act was born of whole cloth as an opportunistic action by the Federal government trying to jump in front of the parade which was the grass roots civil rights movement that started in the South with SNIC and other non-violent protesters against GOVERNMENT discrimination.

The war on drugs started much earlier and took many years to reach its peak. The Pure Food and Drug act of 1906 and Narcotis Act of 1914 were the start. Alcohol prohibition was next. Then one law at a time tightening the noose. Wikipedia has a chronology. During the Carter administration there was talk of MJ legalization at the Federal level, but the Reagan administration crushed that idea and really turned up the heat in the drug war. And it has been crazy ever since.

Nixon declared "war" on drugs. Didn't the CRA take away private property rights which enabled the government to instate no knock warrants.
