I think Jeff Sessions should run and keep Deep South states from Huckabee. David Vitter hates Bobby Jindal and would probably support Jeff Sessions. DeMint and Sessions are closer than Lindsey Graham. There would be a huge amount of support for Jeff Sessions running a regional insurgent campaign; with his 100% consistent record on immigration compared Cruz or anyone else.

Romney and McCain did poorly in the Deep South.

Maybe Steve King could run and keep Iowa from Huckabee though Rand is a strong contender for Iowa. Huckabee winning Iowa wouldn't be a big deal any way based on previous winners.

Maybe Scott Brown could spoil Christie in parts of the northeast with his pro-abortion, anti-gun, and anti-amnesty positions (MAGOP, MEGOP, NHGOP and NYGOP oppose amnesty but Christie supports it).

One thing that this doesn't take into account is the delegates not reflecting the popular vote. For example, in IA in 2008, the huckster had the churches bus people into to caucus, who all turned in their ballots and immediately left. In my caucus, Ron Paul supporters ended up with half of the delegates, with the other half being a four-way split between other candidates. In OK in 2012, Ron Paul supporters were about 40% of the state convention. In both of these states, Ron Paul supporters have managed to work themselves into positions of influence within the party. Winning is defined differently, depending on if you are talking about the ballot vote or the delegates.
The problem in the southern states will be cruz in addition to the huckster or santorum.
