Straw polls are usually fundraisers for state/local parties. It is not uncommon for them to offer voters for sale, not "one person, one vote," so there's nothing unusual or untoward here. Well, not any more than typical politics. :p

Still, this poll was especially egregious.... It's a little different than say, bringing your kids to a straw poll and letting them 'vote' or buying a few for your friends.

Remember that the Ames poll did clamp down on some of this, because the vote buying was getting too out of hand. Without at least some self restraint, the spectacle can become "too slimy for public display".
