I just went to the official campaign website to see where the donations were at this morning. After being there for a minute or so, I hit the Refresh button in my IE 7.0 browser and, just for a couple of seconds, the donation total showed up as 32,123,456.78!!!! It shows this every single time I hit Refresh!!

What's Up With This and how can we 'use' for something positive?

Did you wait for it to completely load and THEN hit Refresh?

I did, and it's no different. Did you have it paused, or was it moving through the different items?

I didn't stop it. Just left it running through it's program but wanted to go immediately back to the thermometer so, I hit Refresh and thats' when the 3 mil figures showed up. It doesn't stay up very long and it took a bit of doing for my husband to get screen shot but, it is still doing it. At first I thought they had added in off-line donations and got all excited about it but then it settled back into the 10 mil figures.

Haha -- I've seen that $32million thing too.

Glad to see I am not completely nuts!

Maybe that includes the offline contributions too? :D

haha. looks like it's just something in the flash script to initialize the counter (notice the pattern)

I suppose you could key PrtScr and capture a screenprint, and use the pic for something cool.

I'd probably do it just for the coolness of having a pic of the counter with that amount.

The code is just a little buggy, that's all.

After all, they didn't expect 8 digits when they wrote it. Right after Ron broke 10M they had to update the image to get the number to fit. :)

I had that happen a couple of days ago... it started out 32,000,000 and then it started counting up like normal. i thought i was just seeing things :)

FYI i'm on a Mac using Safari and OSX

It's probably an internal sentinel (aka special but arbitrary) number that's in the code. The number is suspect because it has the sequence 12345678 in it.

Perhaps the coder initializes the value to that number and then checks against it to trigger some initial events.

Bottomline, it's just a minor bug. Ignore it.

It's a subliminal thing;)

If Ron Paul wins the nomination, 32,000,000 will seem like pennies.
