CNN Poll: Trust in government at all-time low

The poll also indicates that the public's trust in government is at an all-time low.

Just 13% of Americans say the government can be trusted to do what is right always or most of the time, with just over three-quarters saying only some of the time and one in 10 saying they never trust the government, according to the poll.

"The number who trust the government all or most of the time has sunk so low that it is hard to remember that there was ever a time when Americans routinely trusted the government," CNN Polling Director Keating Holland said.

"But polls conducted by the University of Michigan consistently found a majority of Americans in the 1960s and early 1970s saying that the government could be trusted all or most of the time - until Watergate. In 1972, 53% said they trusted the government always or most of the time. By 1974, that figure had plummeted to 36%, and except for a brief period of patriotic sentiment immediately after the 9/11 attacks, it has remained under 50% ever since," Holland added.

Nothing new here. There's been similar polls out from respectable sources of late.

Yes, quite right, this is just one more to add to the pile.

What worries me is that, in the mind of of Boobus, he is pissed because government is not spying, warring, bombing, incarcerating, or passing out free shit, enough.

From my experience people hate the government but like the benefits they receive from it.

I'm more optimistic. I'm 'hoping' the situation is much more favorable to us than the propagandists would have us believe.

I'd like to see someone run a poll that asks a follow up question:

Why?

Oh, and define "do the right thing" that this poll asks about government.

Whenever I see that bastards name I feel compelled to post this:

In the first situation, a leading pollster has admitted to manufacturing poll results to achieve a desired result. On the August 19, 1998, CNN Moneyline show with Lou Dobbs, CNN Polling Director Keating Holland discussed how he manipulated Clinton’s numbers upward to meet their expectations after plummeting from the Lewinsky affair. Holland’s justification for this breach of polling integrity was that the question had been worded wrong and if different wording had been used, Clinton’s numbers would have been higher!

Let's hope the masses are losing their trust in the media at the same rate.
