Thank God we have such fine officers out there keeping us safe from murders and stuff ... another source says the woman who was shot at was the cop's daughter. Both are now on paid leave, of course ...

Two Tulsa Police Officers Facing Charges Related To Homicide
Posted: Wednesday, August 6, 2014 6:34 AM EDT Updated: Wednesday, August 6, 2014 8:08 AM EDT

Two Tulsa police officers have been arrested following the shooting death of a 19-year old Tuesday night.

Tulsa police say the victim, Jeremy Lake, was gunned down in a neighborhood near downtown Tulsa by Officer Shannon Kepler. It's not clear if Kepler was on or off-duty at the time.

Police say Kepler and Lake were in some kind of argument in the street prior to the shooting. Kepler also attempted to shoot a woman who was with the victim, according to a news release from Tulsa Police.

Kepler later turned himself in and is facing a charge for first degree murder.

Kepler's wife, Gina, was also arrested and is facing a charge of "Accessory to Murder After the Fact." Gina Kepler is also a Tulsa police officer.

Like that is even hardly relevant.

Hopefully the daughter is able to get the help she needs after being raised by those two.

The daughter did this to herself.........

It was the boyfriend, I believe, who 'did this to himself'. The daughter was allegedly shot at but unscratched.

The neighborhood they were in is, to put it mildly, not Tulsa's best. I believe Officer Abusive Daddy raised himself a meth head, though the only reason I have to believe it is that neighborhood where the cop did the shooting.

So, yeah, dragging the meth-addled daughter of a failed daddy with a God complex to the hood--dude should definitely have armed himself, if not made an investment in Kevlar.

These cops were arrested soon after the murder, before it was anything like common knowledge they were suspects, and the investigation and evidence seem to be getting proper handling. I see no signs the department is trying to spare these psychos their just desserts. I know this failed daddy is miserable contemplating how life will be in Big Mac (the maximum security state prison in McAlester).

I see nothing in the linked article that details what is "more to the story." And that phrase is usually used by copsuckers to excuse police wrongdoing.

Update: Jury deadlocks 6-6 in third trial of Shannon Kepler; another mistrial declared
Jury deadlocks after less than 3 hours of deliberations

By Samantha Vicent Tulsa World Jul 7, 2017 Updated 10 hrs ago 33

Surrounded by attorneys, family members and supporters, former Tulsa Police Officer Shannon Kepler walked out of the Tulsa County Courthouse on Friday evening after a third mistrial in his murder case. The jury had announced that it was deadlocked 6-6.

The six-man, six-woman jury deliberated for only about 2½ hours and asked at least three questions before notifying District Judge Sharon Holmes that it could not reach a unanimous decision on either a first-degree murder charge or a lesser offense of first-degree manslaughter.

Kepler, 57, remains charged but free on bond in the Aug. 5, 2014, shooting death of 19-year-old Jeremey Lake, who had just begun dating Kepler’s daughter, Lisa Kepler.

Trial proceedings began June 27, with both sides resting their cases Thursday. Kepler took the stand in his own defense that evening and told the jury he fatally shot Lake in self-defense in the 200 block of North Maybelle Avenue because he saw the teen carrying a gun.

However, multiple witnesses and officers involved in the investigation testified that they did not see a gun on or near Lake’s body, nor was one recovered from the shooting scene.

Kepler faced earlier trials in November and February, but District Judge Sharon Holmes declared mistrials on the murder count due to hung juries. Those juries were not given the option of considering first-degree manslaughter as a lesser-included charge.

Kunzweiler said a hung jury is not justice for Lake or for Kepler because there is no verdict, and he took exception to what he said was the defense “hooting and hollering” after leaving the courtroom.
