Two weeks worth of breakdown. This just goes to show that there is nothing "isolated" about police abuse. That there are not just "a few bad apples." http://www.reddit.com/r/Bad_Cop_No_Donut/comments/2cohy3/analysis_of_bad_cop_no_donut_posts_from_72714/

Interesting. I wonder what happened in Florida, NY and Illinois?? Perhaps the website got some publicity there? It seems like there were more reports all of a sudden.

A lot of "unknown agencies" in Maine. I wonder what that's about?

I would imagine that these are culled from news reports and those three areas have been a hot bed for police abuse since...forever.

It would be nice if the graphic were interactive though a tremendous amount of work seems to have been put into this compilation.

Yeah, but unless I'm reading this wrong, it looks like 2 weeks worth of data with a huge discrepancy between the weeks. Could it be timing of when certain states report their numbers?

These are just from news/media reports posted by users on the subreddit Bad Cops No Donut. They include articles such as lawsuits which have come about perhaps years after the abuse has taken place. So, much of it has to do with what stories are in the media and the amount of site traffic/poster response.

Right, so could it be that the reddit site got some recent publicity in those states? I can't figure out how to view past weeks. But if the site is getting more users, the data could be even more compelling.

These are the only two graphics posted by user Hawk49x. I would imagine he has just begun to compile the data so it would be hard to extrapolate until there is more info known.

probably simpler than that - larger states with higher population will have more media outlets and get disproportionate media attention as a result

Wow... the two states I've lived in are the two worst. I'm a tad surprised by FL, I would have thought some other northeastern places would have been worse, guess not.

Not much in NH, maybe they're afraid of FSPers?;)

What I do wonder is how many cops there actually are in employ in these states, and how many of them have been involved in police abuse. Being generous and going by the government's definition of police abuse (in other words, not counting legalized harassment for driving too fast and so forth, even though these things are certainly wrong) I suspect that there are still probably more cops who don't engage in police abuse than those who do. But even then, those cops still aren't doing anything about the ones who do.

52% have turned a blind eye to improper conduct by other cops. 61% have admitted to not reporting abuse of authority by fellow cops.
