So there seems to be 3 main complaints about the direction the blimp effort is going:

1. Donors don't like the sudden change in graphics.
2. Others don't like the change from a PAC to an LLC.
3. Some people have a problem with others making profits.

So the perfect solution is to let the market decide!

1. Trevor and Elijah should continue on just as they are. The big time donors that have already maxed out their $2,300 can donate to these guys. The Elijah team can do all their high-fallutin stuff that they are planning on.

2. Either Lord Xar can use his existing PAC or someone else can start a PAC. This can be used for the grassroots that haven't already maxed out. Lord Xar can just have a sub-account for the blimp project that people can donate to with the total updated in real-time. If it doesn't get enough by the deadline, the agreement is that everyone gets their money back, minus cc charges, etc. Once enough money is gathered, the PAC purchases a months worth of time from the blimp company. Volunteers are used in each city to ride in the blimp and make sure it is where it is supposed to be. Graphics designs are voted on by donors weighted by donation amounts. Same with schedules, etc. No press liasons, no attorneys, no other expenses. Just a simple travel through major cities with no other gimmicks.

Seems like this would solve all of the problems, plus it would have a bonus of having 2 Ron Paul blimps in the air at the same time! That would be even better than one.

What say you everyone? Can someone get in contact with Lord Xar and ask him about it?

Its a rather complex solution. But if its a construction that would work, resolve most of the complaints, why not?

Yet over here we have a saying:

"A formula for success in life doesn't exist. There is however one for failure. That is trying to satisfy everyone"

There will always be discontent people. Look at the threads about what name the blimp should have. Poll after poll and no end in sight. :P

I think the most simple solution is that Trevor and Elijah should be open about the finances and start a thread for questions and feedback (open communication).

And leave it at that.

If people have concerns they can ask questions and based on the answer they get decide for themselves if they want to contribute or not.

In the end that's what it boils down to anyway, everyone has to decide for him or herself.

Trevor and Elijah have presented their plan, chip in or not. Individual choice.

Its simple. :)

The "perfect solution" IMO is BlimpCam.

Just rig up a cheap webcam in the hangar and put an image on the webpage that updates maybe once a minute. Nothing fancy or complicated required; just a cheap Best Buy special, a little rigging, and a minor code update.

People are willing to pledge huge amounts for an idea, but in order to sell it you've got to show them something real.
All the nay-saying about the paint job, paid staff, legal concerns, etc are just a reaction to "I don't see no blimp" anxiety.
It would also serve as a motivator. Show 'em an unpainted blimp and they'll pay to get paint on it. Show 'em a painted blimp sitting on the ground and they'll pay to get it in the air (even if they're not happy with the paint).
Added bonus: Showin' them "blimp" looks like progress, which will start a buzz, which will drive more traffic to the site, which will increase donations.

It's human psychology. The roadblocks will disappear once the investors see blimp instead of "artist's rendition". So even though it may seem like a minor detail, getting BlimpCam up and running should be one of the top priorities because it'll make the rest of it easier.
