I have beenSunGazing (http://yogikanna.com/sungazing/) for most of the summer after doing a search for natural eye healing because my vision seemed to be getting worse. I am very glad to say that my vision has greatly improved. I have talked to people who said they no longer need to wear glasses and many others say they have enjoyed improved health due to sun gazing.

Some people claim that Jesus's trek out in the desert for 40 days and 40 nights was about sun gazing. Most people do claim to loose weight and have less desire to eat. It also appears that sun gazing is how Breatharians (http://science.howstuffworks.com/innovation/edible-innovations/breatharian.htm) get their nourishment. Which I have often wondered about because I have often wished I could go without eating.

When I was a child I used to stare at the sun on warm sunny days. I would sometimes see spots before my eyes for days. I also looked directly into the total eclipse of the sun and had people screaming at me to stop. On the day of the total eclipse my hair turned bright red everyone noticed it It kinda freaked me out. There is a person who says the color of the spots you see after gazing coincide with the chakras (http://threeheartscompany.com/chakra.html). I still see spots afterwards but they only last for a few seconds the color of my last spot from gazing was indigo which indicates the pituitary gland aka the master gland is being stimulated.

Anyway now I do sun gazing the way that experienced sun gazers recommend and I my eyes seem to be getting much better which is really a relief because it was starting seem that they were getting worse and I was getting afraid to drive. I am wearing a weaker pair of glasses from years ago and can see good with them.

Another benefit of sun gazing is that sun light is free I am sure that is why the medical industrial complex has a problem with the practice and sun light in general.

Stop it, unless you are actually trying to cause your own cataracts and blindness.

Your corneas don't need any extra UV to form cataracts and
your retina, lens and fovea are all going to get fried to a crisp.

That sounds like a very bad idea to me and every time you do that,
it makes Rand Paul cringe.

It's even worse than hitting yourself in the head with a hammer all night long, IMO.

Blahblahblah....

She just said she could barely see and now she's wearing an older pair of glasses and can see fine, you're really just going to dismiss this??

From what I know about sun gazing, you don't just stare at the sun.. you stare at the sun when it is low in the sky and you can look at it without hurting your eyes. People do this every day when they watch the sunset.

All I can tell you is my health and eye sight is improved a lot. Another thing I have noticed is I don't get headaches from reading anymore.

Very interesting, I'm glad it's helping you WP.

There is no UV light at sunrise and sunset.

Sungazing would be ill advised if you lived in a valley where the "sunset" occured a long time before dark. For example where I live... its light out 90 minutes before sunrise and after dark. The sun is much brighter when it comes over the mountain than when I watch a sunrise/sunset at the beach.

UV may be LOWER but it is not zero.

It also appears that sun gazing is how Breatharians get their nourishment.

True breatharians are dead since they consume neither food nor water at all.

Now if your eyes have strain from working or using them looking at close objects all day (like computer screens or reading) it can help to look at far away objects for a while. It does not have to be the sun (which I too would not recommend).

I still see spots afterwards but they only last for a few seconds the color of my last spot from gazing was indigo which indicates the pituitary gland aka the master gland is being stimulated.

Not the pituitary but the opposite color on a color wheel from what you were looking at. Try an experiment. Stare at something for several minutes. They quickly close your eyes and you should see the opposite color briefly. http://psychology.about.com/od/sensationandperception/ss/negative-photo-illusion.htm

What you are experiencing is known as a negative afterimage. This happens when the photoreceptors, primarily the cone cells, in your eyes become overstimulated and fatigued causing them to lose sensitivity. In normal everyday life, you don't notice this because tiny movements of your eyes keep the cone cells located at the back of your eyes from becoming overstimulated.

If, however, you look at a large image, the tiny movements in your eyes aren't enough to reduce overstimulation. As a result, you experience what is known as a negative afterimage. As you shift your eyes to the white side of the image, the overstimulated cells continue to send out only a weak signal, so the affected colors remain muted. However, the surrounding photoreceptors are still fresh and so they send out strong signals that are the same as if we were looking at the opposite colors. The brain then interprets these signals as the opposite colors, essentially creating a full-color image from a negative photo.

Wow zippy you said something that really made me think.
*Disclaimer: I am only commenting on my own personal experience so it is just a observation on my part. What maybe true for me may not be true for you.
I see the sun most everyday at sunrise I do not look at the sun very long even though most people who practice sun gazing look at it longer than I do. I feel that light is a necessary nutrient for myself. If it is too cloudy to see the sun at sun rise I usually will look for a break in the clouds until I see one. I feel so much happier if I catch me a few rays it is so much easier and cheaper than anything I have ever tried for my own health enhancement. I have since childhood looked at the sun for at least a few seconds.
As for the thing about opposite colors when light hits the cones I have had a lot of fun thinking about that one and with my over stimulated cones. I can feel my cones move towards the light My cones really like light for some reason. I have always known that when I close my eyes I am seeing in the negative effect. I realize I can see everything I look at in the negative effect if I close my eyes after looking. I also know that the the spots I see after gazing are in the negative and apply it to my self diagnoses of my chakras. Which helps me experience even more healing.

I am very happy about my sun gazing. It seems to help help my aches and pains, my skin, and I think it helps all my glands and organs function better. It is cheap and it works for me. I hope in regards to your health that you never go against what seems right for yourself. I hope I never will either.

Cheers!

This is very interesting to me. Could you link to a place where I could learn more about it?

Especially if you are used to working close- like at a desk or a computer- looking away at far away objects helps your eyes- but I would not use the sun as that object. It can actually damage them. Even at dusk or dawn. Getting fresh air and going outside (especially to exercise) is good too.

Nobody who is against this seems to want to address WP's experience. How do you explain his improvement?

You may attribute it to other causes, but surely his life didn't change that drastically when he started gazing at the sun. If anything, the practice should have been a hindrance, but it seems not to have been.
