The Feds and Commissioner of the department look like they are dropping the hammer on these guys.

Mayor's quote from article:

“Ninety-nine to infinity percent of our officers are hard-working, dedicated, and honest,” Nutter said. “Unfortunately, there are a few who tarnish their badge.”
So would that put the number of cops in Philly potentially at infinity plus six?

Again, there are no good cops. If there were the good cops in Philly would have put a stop to this already or they are incompetent to realize what is actually going on around them.

So what are they trying to distract us from?

Prerequisite for becoming a "member": double chin.

Advancement within the "organization" requires 3 or more chins.

Donuts anyone?

No, it means that 99 to infinity percent of the officers are hard-working, dedicated, and honest. The other 98 percent are lazy, undedicated, and dishonest.

John Speiser must be the ultimate gypsy cop. I have seen his face in every city I've ever been to. When I think "cop," I think of John Speiser.

You both have lost me. I'm a failure on common core math.

The drug war has made this problem dramatically worse. Cops used to take bribes and beat people up, but it was small change. The drug war brought vast amounts of untraceable money into their reach and also taught them to pretend to be criminals in order to catch the criminals. And they discovered they liked it.

Any public official that ever says anything like "infinity percent" should be fired on the spot.

Imagine something comparatively benign like "200 percent". Out of a police force of 1000, 200 percent would be 2000. Infinity percent still means infinity. This cop thinks he has infinite officers.

I just twisted the logic. He stated that 99 to infinity percent of officers are honest. In my mind's eye, I separated the numbers into a line:

[1 - 98%] and [99% and higher]. Since the 99% and higher group is honest, the 98% group is dishonest.

Yeah, 99% of cops give the rest of them a bad name:p

Every police officer in the United States is guilty of extortion.

Today's US law enforcement is one gigantic racket, virtually indistinguishable from the "fuck you, pay me!" Mafia.

In many situations it's actually preferable to deal with the Mafia than a police officer...the encounter will be less expensive, and your dog and wife will probably live.

Silly cops. They are only allowed to kidnap and extort with a permission slip from a judge.

If a typical thug tries to assault me, I'm allowed to defend myself.

If a cop assaults me, I'm not...
