Music Legend Pat Boone Sings Praises of Tom McMillin

July 29, 2014

(Alexandria, Virginia) – Legendary entertainer Pat Boone, spokesman for the national non-partisan senior citizen group the 60 Plus Association, announced that Michigan GOP congressional candidate Tom McMillin has earned the group’s Honorary Guardian of Seniors’ Rights award.

In a statement released by 60 Plus, Boone remarked, “I’m still singing at concerts, but today I’m singing the praises of Tom McMillin. Seniors can depend on Tom McMillin.” Boone, who turned 80 this year, resides in California with his wife of 60 years, Shirley.

Boone is also familiar to audiences as a star of film and television. Boone has had 38 top-ten hits since his recording career began in the 1950s, and, according to Billboard magazine, holds the record for the most consecutive weeks (220) on the charts by any performer.

Chairman Jim Martin, who founded 60 Plus in 1992, added, “Tom McMillin can be counted on to protect Social Security and Medicare, fight to repeal Obamacare and end the ‘Death Tax.’ He’ll work to protect the pocket books of senior citizens and end the wasteful spending of our tax dollars, which has our government now borrowing over 40 cents of every dollar to pay its bills. Seniors have to live within their means and so should our government.

“Most important to Michigan seniors, Tom McMillin is a man of integrity who puts principle above political expediency. When he says he will vote to kill the Death Tax and repeal and replace Obamacare, the people of Michigan know he will honor his word. On behalf of the more than 19,000 60 Plus senior supporters in Michigan’s 8th congressional district, I’m proud to stand behind Tom McMillin for Congress. ”

The Association’s Guardian Award is presented to Democrats and Republicans based on their “senior friendly” voting records. Previous GOP recipients from Michigan include Governor Rick Snyder, and U.S. Reps. Mike Rogers, Fred Upton, Dave Camp and Candice Miller. Democrat recipients include U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman (NM) and Rep. Sanford Bishop (GA).
