Brian Ellis loans campaign another $200K, hits $1 million mark before August primary

GRAND RAPIDS, MI Businessman Brian Ellis contributed an additional $200,000 to support his campaign to unseat U.S. Rep. Justin Amash.

The latest advance brings Ellis' personal loan contributions to $1 million, according to a campaign finance report filed Thursday with the Federal Election Commission. An additional $97,350 was raised through individuals and political action committees from July 1-16.

The challenger's campaign is not sitting on the cash more than $216,000 was spent on new television ads and political mailers, reports indicate. Ellis still has more than $450,000 on hand.

Geeze, anyone seen the updated poll for this race? last I heard, Amash had a safe lead. I wonder if his internal polls are showing a Dave Brat type surprise come election day.

Hopefully Amash has actually been on the ground in his own state. Last thing he needs is an Eric Cantor type scenario where voters just got sick of him because they felt he didn't represent their views. I mean, sure, we may like what Amash says, but we're not all in Michigan.
